I debated doing that, but when I put in the top bolt, there is a big gap along the bedside and the brace. I think the passenger bracket jig is wrong.

Mine didn't have a gap like that, I think it was because my bed was out of square. Once bolted up mine were flush on the sides and bottom.

Early April 2018. Sold them a few months ago, but will probably pick up another set at some point.

I haven't drilled anything. I followed the instructions for installing the first bolt on the bottom and then the next steps calls for the top bolt to be inserted. I can't get this top bolt in and you have to get this bolt in in ordered to get everything lined up before drilling three holes.

@gman36 can the passenger side bracket be shifted to get rid of the gap? I'd recommend loosening the lower bolts and pushing the stiffener as close to the bedside as you can. There shouldn't be an issue lining up the top bolt. It might take a little bit of adjustment to get everything to work. If you can't get proper alignment, try slowly hand threading each bolt first before torquing them down. A few customers have reported this to work during their install.

Note: One of our fabricators/lead product designers is out of the office. We have a meeting planned to discuss these as soon as they are back.

You may have the 2nd gen stiffeners, the bolt hole locations are slightly different.

I can slide it over to get rid of the gap, but then the top hole is way out of alignment.

I tried this method just now but can't get rid of the gap either. It is putting a lot of strain on the top bolt/hole. I even tried just putting in the top bolt first and swing down the bracket but it can't swing down to align with the bottom holes because of the washers stick too far up. Again this is all because the top hole is out of alignment

I had issues aligning the holes up on the passenger side as well. Make sure you don't tighten the bolts down all the way as they need play to get all the holes to line up. I tightened the bolt on the side before tightening the remaining holes. I had a slight vertical gap as well but once you drill your holes and tighten the bolts, it should close up. Highly doubt that there is an issue with the stiffeners themselves.. your bed could also be crooked making it more difficult to align
