Do you have it secured to the bed, or is it easily removable?

I was in Walmart the other day and picked up a box for 20 bucks. Works fine for my purposes. And it has wheels, which makes it extra spiffy.

I just bought a Pelican 1730 case that will be mounted in the bed and have a set of pad locks on it, was cheaper than a truck tool box.

This is what I've been using for the past couple of months. Works GREAT, weather proof and lockable. The big bonus is that it can be moved around in the bed easily or taken out (compared to a standard tool box). Usually sits by the tailgate, but with the extra front tie-downs it gets moved to the front of the bed or to a side depending on what we're carrying at the time.

Closeup of my attachment hardware. SS springs, clevis, and carabiner clips into the bed tie-downs and keeps everything in place. I still need to add limit cables inside the springs to prevent over-extension.

You could use turn buckles for attaching the box to the bed tie downs. They seem a good alternative to springs and limiting cables. I know Lowes by me had some for like $2 dollars each. Eliminates the need for carabiners as well as cable and springs.

Not a bad idea, but I already had all the hardware laying around from a different project!

Plus the springs/carabiners are faster to move around the box

Yeah I understand, why go buy new stuff when you already have hardware that will do the job.
