Just finished a rough idea of what I'm trying to fabricate..

The version for others would be more on an "H" - in that the sides going to the bed rails woul be equidistant, therefore giving the Hi-Lift mount more support, and allowing for the storage of Jerry Cans on either side of the Action Packer.

Already filled it with groceries; so nice not to have to dick with undoing a ratchet strap to access the Packer..

    Again.

    Rough idea.

I like the concept, but think it would have to be way more adjustable to appeal to myself or the masses. Not all coolers are the same size, and having fixed width modular pieces for your gear will not be very efficient or accommodate someone elses gear as nicely.

I feel like the only way this would work on a commercial scale is if almost every storage space was adjustable instead of modular, with the exception of any drawers, where two pieces of metal with holes and a locking pin could be aligned and adjusted. If you did it right and made it easy to use and adjustable enough; then it might even work for any truck, not just Tacomas, and you would increase your market potential dramatically.

This would be good for getting groceries or packing a couple coolers on a day long fishing trip. But when I go on a weekend trip and need to pack my bed completely full as efficiently as possible, then I feel like this modular contraption would significantly reduce the amount of gear I could fit in the bed.

I was lucky and found a 2nd Gen owner that didn't want them any more. I think I paid $60 shipped to get all three rails, hardware, and tie downs.

My thoughts exactly. Most of the bed sliders I've seem are expensive though.

How did you attach them to the bed?

Sweet, I like the Idea. I am going to attach them on the "inside" like below the bed rail

    Point well taken.

My overall concept of this entire thing is to develop it around two products with relatively constant dimensions and usage amongst the TW crowd.

    Action Packers and Jerry Cans.

I agree that having something totally modular/adjustable would be quite useful. However, I'm going to keep things rather simplistic for the time being. Not to say that I'll never introduce more complexity into things; I just have to start somewhere.

Overall, no huge aspirations to go entirely commercial with these yet. More just experimenting and seeing what may appeal to others.

    Thanks for your input!

    Jake

    Rough (non-dimensional)..

The modelling program I use doesn't allow for flat stock; so on the Jerry Can baskets, substitute 1.5" x 3/16" flat stock for the round tubing that's in the sketch...

Any more headway on this idea?

    Looks great...
