Been rummaging thru the forum looking for similar issues, Only finding noise threads from the rear of the truck.
When I drive down the road and look into my door mirrors, I can see the bed move separately from the cab when I go over bumps. I bought the truck new in October and have basically only driven it in town and very light off roading (mostly thru snow) But I took a bumpy gravel road the other day and wow. I couldn't take my eyes off the side mirrors watching the bed move separate from the cab.
Now I may be over analyzing this but ive had F150s before and never noticed anything like this. Lately Ive been watching other people beds as i drive near them (have not gotten near a taco yet to watch) I dont see much if any movement on other vehicles.
Anyone else notice this? If I had to say how far its moving maybe 1/4"-1/2" or more....... that's judging looking thru a mirror 3 feet behind me. It just doesn't seem like it should move that much at all. Paranoia... maybe...
Either way its an observation and I am curious.
I would think it seems like a weak frame set up if the bed is noticeably moving. I have not checked bolts or anything yet.. I have tried shaking the bed or the "WTF shake" as someone mentioned in a different thread.
No noises or anything like that, just movement. For these pre-runner guys id be scared to jump one of these things at all in fear of folding the taco in half... well like a taco.. haha

    normal

Caused by the frame flexing. All trucks do this to some degree.

Is it because most trucks are not unibodies?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJZVUnOduH4 The video is all full size trucks, I just want you to get an idea of how dramatic a flexing frame can look. Btw I would still take the Tundra over the other trucks without a doubt.

Yea, obviously some is normal but it just seems excessive for driving over light bumps in town. Ill check the bolts. If anyone has seen the ecoboost test its not that bad haha-

EDIT-- yea you both beat me to the punch with that vid--

    Lots...
Remember tacoma frames aren't fully boxed and they flex a lot! In normal city driving, the bed moves a lot! But ull get used to it!

Interesting side note about the Ford in that test, its frame is so stiff that they actually have to fit vibration dampeners so that the cabin doesn't shake all the passengers around. I think Dodge does the same thing too...

Also, does it not look like they are going much faster in the Tundra on that test than all the other trucks?

I agree, imho it looks like the ford traveling the slowest. It also looks like the tundra was haulin ass and the got on the brakes, to get that rear end in the air.

Lot of fiberglass in a Ford pickup body = lighter. GM's are the worst I' have seen as far as flex.

my bed seems to shake around quite a bit too, i however have a mystery clunk/pop from the rear, it's either the pos drive shaft or a loose bed bolt.. i'll get around to checking them eventually
