Has anyone on here had their composite bed sprayed with bedliner yet? I’m curious to hear how it’s holding up and so forth? TIA!

I work at my family's car dealership and we had a tacoma traded in with the bed sprayed and whoever did it spray completely over all the bed rails and bolts. it was painful to see haha

Isn't the factory bed already coated?

That's like putting a glove, over another glove. Unless you roll like that. I've read over the years here and people have.

I have no idea the point of doing this, other than maybe someone thinking it would make the bed less slick.

That said, if you were concerned about bed slickness, a bed mat is less than $100 and I’ve got to think just the material cost for bed liner is more than that.

If I saw a Tacoma with bed liner over the composite bed, my first thought would be “someone is trying to hide damage”.

The composite bed will outlast everything else on the truck. Toyota even demos dropping stuff from a crane onto them undamaged. I could see spraying the bottom to make it not slippery but a bed mat for $100 solves that.

I use my truck to carry things like stumps, gravel and appliances. It does deflect under concentrated loads and rebound. With the spray on material mismatch I think you are wise to ask so you don’t end up with delimitation and chipping.

I have long believed if you feel the need to double bag it, you should really reconsider your choices.

I’ve seen it done a few times but not often. It’s 100% doable and looks fine. It would cover scratches and make it less slippery if those are goals of yours.
I’d be sure to power wash and prep the surface if you DIY. Also take the bed bolts out as well as masking off the holes and taking the bed rails off.

Agree bed liner on top, spray undercoating the bottom of the truck if you feel the need spray something on the truck

I thought these composite beds were already sprayed with some sort a liner from the factory.

Why bother? As others have said bed matt if you're worried about slipping. Otherwise leave it be.

I had my Double Cab Long bed line-X ed No regrets. Nothing slides around. Still looks good. No peeling or chipping.
