Thinking of buying a KB Voodoo bed rack. Has anyone had any experience with these?

    Don't do it. You're welcome.

Search them on here and you'll find out why.

Tons of documented powder-coating issues. I believe the newest version of the racks are made out of aluminum so at least they won't start rusting like mine did.

I have the high rise bars, and they've functioned exactly as planned. I do have to touch up about once a year with spray paint, as the powder coating flakes off the brackets (so far the cross bars have been ok).

As far as I know, they* are the only ones that work with various tonneau covers, so even with the annoyance of having to re-paint them, they fill my needs as I have a tonneau cover I wasn't going to get rid of. As the above posters hinted, others are much more vociferous in their disappointment.

*Edit: they = most of KB voodoo's racks, not just hte high rise. Note, you won't be able to open the cover unless I think it's one of those that roll up like a window shade.

Could you comment on the sturdiness of the hi rise bars? I'm interested in getting them to mount a CVT Mt. Rainier when I'm not running my softopper, and I don't know if I'd need two or three bars.

No input on KB but where you at? Got an RCI rack I'm selling just outside DC.

I just picked up a Cali raised rack. Very similar design. Haven't seen any powder complaints toward them either.

A RTT is in my plans and I have no qualms about only using the 2 bars.

Did a quick search and found this person with the hi rise and a RTT, maybe send him a message to get his feedback:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/truck-bed-rack-and-rain.632164/#post-21694221

And I hope this link works... there's a large RTT thread in the offroad forum, here's all the posts that mention hi rise bars:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/search/9537800/?q=hi+rise&t=post&o=date&c[thread]=312269

In that thread is a mini review of someone how used to have the hi rise bars with RTT:

Does anyone know if a CBI 2nd gen bed rack would fit in a 3rd gen Tacoma?

I have one, I like the design in theory but the powder is terrible. I’m actually designing an all aluminum one currently. If all goes well I might do a limited batch to sell on TW.

Basically alluminum brackets with 80/20 1.5x3 crossbars.
