ive done all the research that I can and can decide which one
    Any input is appreciated
Either the floor only bed rug or plain ole rubber mat
I actually use my truck as a truck and will have dogs back there on occasion, (under a topper)

I have a bed rug which is awesome for dogs or a quick nap but I'm considering picking up a bed mat to go over it since the bed rug can be a PITA to clean when using the truck as a truck.

I recently purchased a ProZ bed rug - a little less expensive than the Bed Rug brand, but still pricier than a rubber mat. It is nice - has grooves in the foam underlayment to match the bed. Makes crawling around the bed on your knees much more comfortable and the dogs approve as well.

    Too few to list.
Bed Mat. Bedrug can be a pain in the ass to clean especially with animal hair.

Bed mat. Cheap and easy to clean.

I used a scrap of field turf leftover from a local school that recently turfed their football field.
Cost me a 12 pack of bud. Dogs 120#s each love, hoses off and looks great.

I've actually used both. Had a bed rug (and a Leer fiberglass tonneau cover) in my '05 F150 and have a mat in my 2013 Tacoma. Both kept things from slipping around, and in the Ford's case, the bed from getting all scratched up. Bad part about the rug was if you wanted to get a load of dirt or mulch. Either the carpeted part got really dirty or, you had to take it out or cover it up with a tarp. I would turn mine over in those cases, so so the rug stayed pretty clean. I'd only use one if I had a hard tonneau on the truck.

All in all, I prefer the bed mat. Easy to install and take out if you want wash under it.

I love my bed rug. I have a canopy on all the time and love that it kinda keeps things in place back there. I have a dog back there a lot too and i dont really mind the dog hair i just vaccum it out every now and again.

I would think a bed rug would be nasty if it ever gets wet.....

I haven't really sprayed mine out yet but I'm pretty sure they said you could just pressure wash it to clean it. If I didn't have a canopy and hauled dirt or something similar a lot I don't think a bed mat would be my first choice but for what I use my truck for it is ideal. I have the tail gate bed mat and it is one of my favorite things I have done to my truck.

The back of my short bed has an undercover hard top. It is water proof for the most part and I use my bed like my trunk. I cut a piece of Berber carpet. I can grab the carpet and pull it to me and get to the stuff a against the cab. If I didn't have my cover I would have gone with the rubber mat.
