As far as I have seen, all rear bumpers that provide protection for the bedsides require trimming of the bedsides. Are there any other options for bedside protection that do not require trimming? I realize the trade-off is loss of clearance, but that might be OK for me. I'm just looking for options.

Also, has anyone without bedside protection damaged their bedside dropping it off a rock or ledge? If so, what did the damage look like? Did it damage the whole side of the bed or just the bottom part that would be trimmed off for a high clearance bumper?
