Yea, or at least a bit longer than 3 days like you first said lol. Just watch em fly around for a few mins a day and you'll probably notice if something is really wrong. No worries about lots of questions there's tons to learn

Opened my single box hive on saturday to have a look. They were real pissed off and it didn't look too crowded just looking in between the frames so i put the lid back on quick and let them bee. Still only been about five or six days they've been out flying so far

I pick up my 2 nucs Saturday morning. My first attempt at beekeeping Yard set up attached. I hope the dog gets along with them.

Congrats! Could put a ratchet strap around the hive to keep it together if the dog or any pests like raccoons or something go bumping it around, that's what i do for deer/raccs. The dog will probably only have to learn that lesson once at most but they usually get along well

My dog is allergic and when he gets stung he throws up and craps all over and I have to give him a Benadryl. Haha

I'll go with larger rocks or cinder blocks. The dogs afraid already and won't stay in the yard. Hopefully she'll get use to them.
On another note I got the nucs. One was angry. Pissed really. Looked like it might have been dropped. Broken foundation frame and damaged comb. Couldn't find the queen but didn't look too hard. I'll let them settle for the weekend and check Tuesday. Dealing with 4 stings .. etc.

I want to run something by you professional Beek's. I installed two packages on Friday (5/21), everything went well! I have been watching the hives occasionally the past couple of days and everything seems normal.
Im leaving for a trip today for about 1.5 week and so I wanted to get into the hive to make sure the queen has left her little cage.
I checked one have....immediately located her and she is doing great. Also the rest of the hive looks great!
I went to go check the other and for the life of me, could not locate her....even though she is marked . I was in that hive for a little bit checking all of the frames and I must have missed but in fear of leaving the hive open too long, I took the cage out after I ensured she was not in there, and bailed.

Should I go back in a couple of hours and check again, or just leave it and check when I get back from my trip?
Pics are from the second hive...

I think OP is the only pro here. Shouldn't be a big deal leaving it till after your vaca. There is still plenty of time in the year to overnight a new queen in if need be or whomever sold the package should warranty the queen if you explain the situation. Might be even easier to tell if you wait since there should be brood cells and eggs layed by then, that'll be a dead giveaway. Queen ain't got much to do with little to no comb yet so a big chance she was hiding out of the way somewhere

Spot on what nick said, just make sure they have room to build, I put some supers 10 days ago empty and they are full and capped so they can make moves during a flow,

Mine were off to a rough start until the past two weeks. All the sudden they are full of brood and honey. I had to order a couple extra honey supers to keep up if it stays like this. Only two hives and i think that's enough for me, so i'm not too interested in making splits out of them. Good problems :D
