Don't despair just because of acreage! If I remember correctly, honeybees have a 3 mile range. I know people with bees in town that do well. I live outside of town and wonder if the"city bees" have a better chance of survival, especially in drought conditions. You just have to make sure that they are allowed by your city.

Correct - we are just off the northeast corner of the Lackawanna State Park. We get all of our supplies from Mann Lake. We actually partner in our apiary with a woman who works there and teaches classes.

    MESO!
Spent all day yesterday building out four new hive bodies, 40 frames, foundation for each, and restoring old hive bodies that a friend gave to me. The old ones are nearly destroyed with wax moth larva, but there is some decent old comb in some of them that I think I can re-use and that the bees will clean up. It still smells like honey and some local bees were checking it out while I was cleaning out the moth debris.

3 packages of bees being delivered this Friday!

Does the smoke, cherry I think, work on africanized bees?

Do Bee stings hurt more or less than Wasp? Don't think I've ever been hit by a Honey Bee. Been hit by Wasps several times! They hurt and they pay!
