Been deployed thrice, but 2011 was my favorite. Iraq twice (OIF 09-10, OND 11) and Afghanistan. All 3 were very different, and all 3 were very... interesting...

Been down range too many times. Most of my Desert Storm pics haven't been scanned. Went to Aviano for Deny Flight 1993. Korea in 1996. Went to Balad in 2008. Then I started contracting and working with the Army. Been deployed with them 7 times (including this current trip) for a total of 42 months since 2011. Here's a few random pictures.891598_10202554890421469_61780950_o.jpg IMG_0027_1024.jpg 13 - 1.jpg 20190328_120645.jpg 20190425_030903.jpg 20190514_012436.jpg

Yeah I threw that in there for TW content. All the ones I drove in "The Stan" were diesel with a manual transmission. For some reason the ones we have here (not "The Stan") are all gas with automatics. Still amazing how well they run on very very basic maintenance. As contractors, we always joke about having to do the MRAP roll over training, because when the SHTF we're more likely to roll over in a Hilux and have zero chance of even seeing an MRAP.

Another thanks for your service post.

Me - peacetime Army Reserves 93-99.

Went to Mosul, FOB Marez, Iraq w/ KBR in 2009. Over the next 3 years went to Q-West, then Liberty & Victory. Took 6 months off and headed back to Prosperity (DOS) and ended up in Basra at the Consulate.

Took another 6 months off and went to Djibouti - Camp Lemonnier. Spent the last 5 years there and came home (for good?) at the end of April 2019.

Nothing high speed - I work in purchasing. I probably bought some of that gravel you guys walked on.

Djibouti was fun - peaceful country - there are 2 bars on base + an Officer's Club and a Chief's Mess. Drink limit strictly enforced (except for the OClub and Mess) was 2 drinks.

The Basra Consulate was pretty cool. Worked in a command bunker next to the State Department. The PX sold Beer and Booze Cheap! We'd sit on our double stack Chu balconies and drink at night. Bosnians can put down some booze!

    Some pics.

Damn yeah I was there when that happened. Sh*tty situation...those folks on the flight deck undoubtedly saw it coming and knew they couldn't do anything about it. Story I heard was an armored vehicle that wasn't tied down properly broke loose, shifted the CG aft and caused the aircraft to stall. With a full load of fuel on board and that angle of attack, thing just fell out of the sky.

We also got a huge promo from multi cam patterns.com. They loved the photo of our faces covered. It was also 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Circa 2004, Camp Anaconda in Iraq. If you spent time on the flight line south by the Army units you probably walked right by me.
