    Hi,

Have a 2001 with about 350K on the clock. It's been sitting, unstarted for about 1 year. Going to try to get her back on the road.

Any recommendations for starting her back up??

Have battery charged and tested. My plan is to check and top off all fluids, and to take the plugs out and squirt some normal motor oil in the spark plug holes and rotate the crankshaft. Could someone advise me as to what size bolt and which direction I need to rotate the bolt??

    Any other tips???

    TIA.

19 mm crankshaft bolt, facing the vehicle, turn clockwise.

Edit: at least that’s what it is for the 3RZ I have. You didn’t mention which engine you have. I don’t know if it’s different for the other.

Idk in my opinion one year is not that long. Check the fluids and fire that sucker up. No big deal.

A year isn't that long. I'd be more concerned about the fuel than the oil.

Ok.. Fired her up. Got her up to temp. Cut it off after 15 minutes or so, stationary at idle.

Turned it off, waited a few minutes, now it won't start back.

Thoughts??? Bad gas and/or clogged fuel filter??

    What to try next.

Pull plugs and see which is wet....
You can cut the fuel by holding down pedal at start....

My guess is leaking injector......and thats after pulling fuel regulator and check if fuel is even flowing....
You can pull the fuel return hose off to check....

If it is leaking injector......should be able to clean that plug, and should fire right up...

As a rule.....i would of put injector cleaner in that first tank.....and maybe even put some lucus conditioner in tranny for safeguard.....

Your brake fluid has turned to crap.....all oxidized ......I would flush all....
Same on steering....i'd do new hoses and fluid......sooner than later.....that and differentials and are expensive to replace....

And keep an eye on rear wheel axle seals....they get brittle sitting too long....just like tires.....
And leak is somewhat hidden at first.....stoped by that o-ring and outer hub seal......
Leaks too long, it destroys the $100 bearing on each side.....and the shoes.....
and without that axle tool and a shop press.....$1000 repair to have a shop do it....
NOt to mention running the differential dry.....

Not enough info. What's it doing? Is it a cranking no start? No crank? Engine light on? Any codes? Start with the basics: fuel. Spark, compression. Spark is easiest, and I include a battery check under the spark category. From there move on to fuel. What's your fuel pressure? Are the injectors clicking like they should?

You did use good gas right? And not try to use the old junk that was in there,?

    Ok. 2001 saga, part 1000.

Got it started. Think I’m home free. Then I notice the aftermarket brake booster I purchased off of fleabay has FOUR STUDS for the brake master cylinder-the old one has TWO. I did notice this booster was around 10-15% smaller diameter then the original one-but I’ve seen this before. Before I take this up with the seller, did some models come with the four studs, and not the two?? Or was I shipped the wrong part, like I suspect??

Also where does the brake pedal return spring attach on the interior-I get that the small end goes to a pin in the brake pedal linkage, but not sure where the other end goes.

    TIA.

$1000 is about right. I just had one of my axle seals and bearing replaced. Cost me $490 from door-in to door-out. The bearing cost $70 (included in the $490). The cost to replace just the seals without replacing the bearing would have been $225.

Just fill the tank to dilute that old gas and you should be alright. You can add some injector cleaner also if you want.

    Couple of more questions.

Swapping out old brake master cylinder. Old MC had a round rubber grommet. New one I purchased does not. The old one is in poor condition-I think it was the source of my brake fluid leak. Necessary item?? Does it make sense that the new one doesn’t come with this item??

Also, there is a switch that cuts off the brake lights on the upswing of the brake pedal. Looks like there’s a rubber bumper of some sort- my bumper, for lack of a better term, seems to have crumbled away. What would I call this item, when seeking a replacement??

    TIA.
