A/b is paint/activator aka paint/hardener or paint/catalyst. Paint mixed with hardener will "dryv (harden) in a specific time frame with or without reducer (thinner) The reducer manipulates the viscosity of mixed paint and causes paint to "flow", which is the key in getting paint smooth. Hardener increases overall gloss.

I used to restore antique farm tractors. I did a few that had paint that rivaled some show cars. Did a few that turned out like a bucket of shit. Knowing what to do doesn't always equate to acheving what you want....

Also probably be the same price or cheaper to get a running 5.3 or LS and a 4l80 out of a 1500 as it would a running 1GR

Yes, but why go to all the trouble of a swap with zero net gain?

Use a heat gun, HarborFrieght has them for like $12 - whatever coupon you can find.

I used mine last January to paint some metal brackets. Just use the heat gun on low to warm up the parts to be painted, spray them, and use the heat gun again on low to help them dry faster. Worked pretty good.
