If you do sea foam MAKE SURE that you change out your plugs. Then switch to synthetic. And use a quality gasoline from there after. Not that grocery store, cheap corner store gasoline. BTW I use syn from the very first oil change and I always try to change it at 3500

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
It's popular over on CT also.

Good advice because those grocery stores/ cheap corner stores have their own refineries where they make their own cheap gas.

Thanks everyone for your insight into seafoam and synthetic oil! After doing a little more research yesterday and today at work (;)), I put 1/2 through the PCV vac hose. I DID NOT put any in the crank. After letting it sit for about 15 minutes, started it up and the "foam/fog" show began. However, it only smoked for about a minute or so.

Perhaps this gives some credence that the truck was well-maintained before I purchased it (when I bought it in July of this month, it had 81k on it). At any rate, I took about a 20 minute ride on the highway, gunning the pizniss out of it, and I must say it does indeed run smoother, idles at lower rpm (very minimal, but it is lower), and even shifting into upper gears, seamed smoother. I know the butt dyno is the most subjective diagnostic tool, but I do "feel" some difference. I did not put any in the gas tank (put STP fuel system cleaner in it two weeks ago), but I don't think I will put any in the crank.

Moreover, I am still iffy with going synthetic. I have about another 1k before an oil change, so still some more research to do.

(Oh yea, I will post pics of the ride soon. I have been swamped at work. Ordered Billy 5100s for the front and putting on 265/75/16s in the next few weeks. I have a brush guard on the front, so I will do pre and post measurements and PICS on install). I'm going with 1.75" on the billy's. I fear with 2.5" it will be too high in front, but perhaps with the brush guard it will be level?!)

I still have yet to jump on the synthetic bandwagon. Use AeroShell dino oil on aircraft recip engines so dino is what I use in my truck. Been using Castrol GTX in every one of my cars and never had an issue with changing every 3,000mi. Sure, synthetic has its uses in turbine and high performance engines, but for a daily driver? Nah.
