No regrets, lots of fun times with that truck. bent the front axle housing, leaf spring & frame three weeks after getting the truck.

I had a 1988 4Runner in high school/early college bought it with 173,000. Bought it in 1998. Good truck - 5 speed of course. A fair bit of rust but that’s expected. Miss that era. Forgot I found an old picture- yes I took it off road like it was meant to

Badged as Hilux in North America until 1974, no badging and "Pickup" model naming until 1995, Tacoma from 1995 to now.

The Tacoma was a different truck that effectively replaced the Hilux in North America. It was, and still is, sold elsewhere.

Bought my first truck when I was 16
It was a 1986 Toyota Sr5 Xtra cab with 290k km on it, seller hit a deer a week before I got it so I picked it up right out of the body shop with fresh paint.

had a lot of good times in that truck. Used to be part of the Toyota4x4 mail list, drooled over Downey Catalogs, long shackles, cranked the torsions and barely fit 31s on!

Replaced the box myself, learned all about Bondo and bodywork. Painted it with rattle cans and loved every minute.

Moved to the city and couldn’t fit it into any parkades, traffic was brutal, and burst the brake lines every time someone tried to jaywalk infront if me.

Ended up selling it 12 years after I bought it to a guy heading to Belize. I like to think it’s sitting on a beach down in Central America right now.

This is so true, I used a T100 as a donor for my 3.4 swap in my 90 4runner

I had a '94 I bought in about 2005. I drove it until 2014 and gave it to my son who had just turned 16. Here it is in front of the house.

And here it is after my son decided to take the bed off.

He sold it about 3 years ago with 225,000 miles on it, still running good.
