Holy crap. So glad you and the dog are ok. That must have been one hell of a ride.

Once you get past Gainesville, you'll be OK. That said you'd have a lot less traffic if you go up Fairfax County Parkway, to the toll road , and to 81 and south. 66West from Chantilly (and likely farther East is murder on Friday at 6). I know because I play poker in Gainesville on a lot of Friday nights. I've had it take me an hour from Chantilly to Gainesville.

50 backs up in Chantilly to South Riding. After that you'd likely be good. But the toll road to 81 is your best bet on a Friday!

How much is the toll? I don't have an easy pass if that's required

Its not required. I thought it was like $8. For me, id rather sit in traffic. Maybe because im a cheapass

Or just go the 50 route. It's a little traffic and more scenic

Not required. You can use a credit card or pay cash. I think it's 5.35 or 4.40 depending on time.

Just follow 50 to 81. It's well marked in Winchester.

I love small donut shops. I'm thinking about Saturday morning hitting this up.

Hey guys I'm trying to get estimates on arrival times for Friday. We will be there around 5-6pm after we stop for dinner. Just so I know when to expect people.

If you decide otherwise and end up with a frame taking up space, let me know.

Another nice drive (and likely with less traffic) would be Fairfax Co. Pkwy north to VA 7, and then just 7 to 81 S.

my girlfriend gets off anywhere from 4:30-5:30. ill be out of class at 3:30 and I'm going to run around with my head cut off trying to find a buddy heater (gander mountain should have one) and then hit Walmart for food. hoping to be done at the same time she gets off so we can get on the road! its a hour for me to harrisonburg and hour and a half to the campsite. so I'm guessing anywhere from 6:30-7:30. also my buddy Corry with the other 4runner just told me he was coming! he will be following me down

Yay!!! More t4r's. I love it. I'm heading to get a heater tomorrow as the overnight temps are going to be 20's. and I'd recommend bringing an easyup (pop up canopy) calling for rain Saturday.
