Looking to make use of all the wasted space behind the rear seats?
Ditch the plastic storage bins and bolt in a MOLLE panel!


** Access cab panel now includes cut outs for the child seat restraint latches. It fits every 2005+ access cab. Some model years between 2005-2015 require trimming of the rear plastic cab vent or hit it with a heat gun and slightly flatten it (~ 0.5")



Note: For 3rd gen Tacomas with the power rear window please specify when ordering. Does NOT fit with factory subwoofer.

FAQ

What if I have a factory subwoofer?
I haven't had a truck with a factory subwoofer to measure yet so you will have to cut a hole to accommodate your subwoofer. An angle grinder with a cutting wheel easily cuts the aluminum.


How do I paint my panel?
1: Sand it with 220-320 grit sandpaper. Power sander/orbital sander recommended.
2: Thoroughly clean the panel
(Acetone works well)
3: Spray 2 light coats of aluminum
primer. Let dry
4: Lightly wet sand any imperfections
with a fine scotch brite pad or very
fine sand paper (500+grit)
5: Spray 2-3 light top coat layers of your
favorite color.

What paint is recommended?
I use Rust-oleum professional aluminum primer and a Rust-oleum professional high performance enamel top coat.
The enamel paint takes a long time to fully dry but seems to be more durable in the long term.

Looks good! Does this secure to the floor at all? Also, is there any way to change the molle pattern -- I am building my power system for behind the back seat [circuit breakers, fuse block, etc] and would happily sacrifice some molle space for a blank spot to cut/mount stuff myself.

 

What’s the lead time on it?

 

These don't mount to the floor however I know there are a few bolts somewhere on the floor back there, let me look into it and see if I can bend up some brackets.
The panel doesn't flex very much even when fully loaded.

All of the panels I currently have are cut for maximizing the MOLLE pattern.
Sections can be easily cut out with an angle grinder.
It is possible to make panels that are partially "blank" but it would require a minimum order of 10 panels or a large price increase ($420 ish per panel if I had to guess) The metal supplier I use will make 1 off panels though.

You can always get a flat piece of aluminum, paint to match and drill and tap a few holes in the molle panel to attach the flat piece of aluminum to it. Then you can change the set-up on the flat piece that you attach as your needs change and always have it ready for your particular set up. Win win. Usable molle panel and customizable removable panel. If you need space behind the flat panel you are attaching then just cut it out. The flat piece will cover up what you cut out.

What do you do for sound deadening
Just load up Dynamat or something like that

 

I previously had knock off dynamat in there but I had to remove it for an air compressor install and i haven't put anything back in since. A little road noise but totally tolerable.

 

I put Noico behind it, then some decoupler and high density foam. I don’t have noise figures for before and after unfortunately, but I feel like it should be good.

 

More than securing to the floor it'd be cool to have a lip that covers that top edge of the sill, even if it doesn't/can't butt right up against the window for whatever reason.

If not, no biggie, I'll just cannibalize the trim piece I've got over the top.

What is "decoupler" in this context?

I usually try and follow deadening discussion because it's high on my "soon..." list.

 

I was looking into the floor mounts and there are a few spots it could be attached but would really need to be made for each particular truck. Unless your mounting some seriously heavy stuff it won't be an issue.

I actually had a prototype that went up to the window edge and had a small lip bent back to make it look like a clean edge.
It was really tricky to get perfect and rattled quite a bit. Also came at an extra cost of $45 due to the yield from the large aluminum sheet these are cut from.

A nice piece of rubber trim would be sweet though. Maybe lowes or home depot would have something

 

Decoupler would be foam, to let the high density foam, or mass loaded vinyl, to sit off the Noico. Let’s it absorb more of the vibrations in the air.

 

Noico. Fairly easy to work with and reduced noise quite a bit.

Installed my new panel over the weekend. Sound proofed beforehand with 80mm foil and 157mm foam. Great improvement with noise reduction. Will do the rest of the truck when I do other upgrades. Here are some pics of the install.
