Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Ah, it appears it isn't for placing the actual call..........it's for the Fire department showing up to a medical emergency.

And since the fire dept shows up at almost every emergency that is going to add up in a hurry.

$300 is pretty steep. I get they're trying to close a budget gap, and maybe they're also trying to cut down on meaningless calls, but damn. I'd hate to have to think about money when dialing 911 to try to save my life.

Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
Not that this story applies to me, But I pay city taxes, there is a 911 tax on my phone bill, cell and home phone.
Just another example of the government running the people, not the people running the government.

Tigerfan hit it right on the nose!! Here in Houston we also run 2-3 911 hangups a night, multiply that by 60 officers a shift, 3 shifts a day, and again times 12 stations. Most are BS, but a few have been good calls...

Ya'll would be amazed how people abuse 911 by calling in nonemergency calls such as asking for directions or breaking the HOA limit on garage sales for a year (yes, I've ran this one numerous times).

Ya'll would be even more amazed on how some people use the fire dept as a taxi cab to the hospital for headaches and minor ailments. Yes, they get get sent a bill...but when they have no intention on paying in the 1st place, what good does that do.
