My company builds windfarms, so I am always in the middle of nowhere.
Usually about 1-2 years in each nowhere.

bring your high tolerance for alcohol!!

its probably cheaper if you buy your winter gear down there: jacket, gloves, boots, and toque.

for your truck, block heater and car starter was already mentioned but maybe some snow rated tires.

good luck and welcome to Canada

Must be a Calgarian born and raised... Both cities are nice. I will agree though, Calgary does have better access to the mountains.

So tempting to get into the hockey debate, but I'll behave...

Welcome to Canada. Edmonton and Calgary are both nice cities, and as you will notice, there is a nice rivalry going on between the two. A block heater, snow tires, a snow brush, and maybe an emergency shovel is all you'll need. The remote starter, and an interior car warmer are optional. As for seeing your dog run away for three days, that's Southwestern Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. Alberta is mostly rolling hills, and Rocky Mountains. All the best on your new job, and Go Jets Go! :canada:

This is a great spot for all your outerwear needs. Great prices (for Canada) and great products. Lots of sporting and camping gear as well.

And if your going to be that close to Calgary, a Snow Board would be a sound investment as well..
