Hey all, I have a 2008 taco 4.0 4wd that the engine is knocking. Wondering if anyone knows what company’s are out there (if any) that make a bell housing adapter for a Chevy v-8 to my 5AT automatic that’s in my taco already.
I’m looking at $5k+ to rebuild the original V6. I have 8 Chevy 350 V8 long blocks at home to rebuild, which will be cheaper and more power.
Any info will be great thank you.

As Sumotnk posted only adapter I'm aware of goes the other way, Toyota motor -> chevy trans.

The Aisin RA60 has a variant that was in the V8 Camarros or so I remember reading somewhere so you might be able to make the manual trans bolt to a LS series but don't know anything about SBC or the auto trans' case bolt pattern.

You can spend some time poking around here but don't know if you'll find much.

There's a few LS1 and 3 swaps here but never seen a SBC swapped in, AFAIK the 4.0 makes more than the SBC. I know my numbers are bigger than my buddy's 94 1500 V8.

    :notsure:

I'd probably just look for a low mile motor from a junkyard and stay "stock" if I were you.

Anything is possible with enough time money cad and 5 axis.

    Good luck!
