    No, the oiler only drips when there's air movement through it. To connect to ac compressor I simply cut the factory rubber lines and used barbed fittings to connect new hoses to them. Yes I wired the clutch to a simple toggle switch then wired a pressure switch in line with that. The engine is a 3rz (2.7l) in a first gen taco.

    This whole thread is a fantastic write up. I'm sick of my crappy 12v compressors always failing and leaving me without lockers and air. Vern650, my A/C has been leaking for years and I've never fixed it or recharged it, so I'm committing to no A/C and converting it to air. I'll have to use a drip oiler like you've used; Do you have a write up or list of resources for your conversion? TIA!

    No, I never did a write up I watched some youtube vids and just winged it. It's pretty straight forward though. It pretty much goes intake filter, drip oiler, hose to inlet side of compressor, then hose out of compressor to checkvalve, then oil separator, and home made manifold. Manifold contains gauge, pressure switch, pressure relief valve and air chuck. Then I just wired a simple toggle switch to the compressor clutch with the pressure switch inline.

    @rockgecko03

    Just following up with you regarding this setup. Can you report any issues or a longevity report?

    Thanks

    That's pretty much exactly what I was planning. Do you have to manually drain your separator or does it automatically recycle the oil? What type of separator did you use?

    Mine you have to drain manually. As I wasn't sure how it would all workout, I just bought a cheap harbor freight separator

    I don't know if he still gets on here or not. I think he sold his Taco less than a year after doing this.

    I did the exact same conversion on my Jeep. Use it once a month or so but it's been working flawless for 3 years now

    Bringing the thread back to life.... Has anyone else tried this setup?
    I am looking for a belt driven set up. This is the only one I now of, I've been googling york and sanden set ups- there are some for older models, I'm looking for sprcific instructions for a second gen taco... any help would be appreciated... and of course also wondering if this set up has held up with time.

    the hardest part of this is the bracketry, we currently dont have the luxury of having off the shelf brackets for the compressor available. and the compressor should last a long time provided you take care of it, last i heard was it needs to be greased every 100 hours of operation, which is a long time if your not using it every day. this is about a close to a guide as your gonna get, the OBA megathread could offer some more help, but most people seem to settle with 12v compressors instead. I will have to have a chat with my local fab shop and see what they say about possibly making the brackets, since it shouldn't be too complicated to make, just time consuming with fitment.
