Changing out serpentine belt and idler pulleys today. The idler pulley on the tensioner definitely felt rough. I was experiencing a squeal that sounded like a bad bearing and I think this was the culprit. Anyway, got everything re routed and put back together, but the belt isn’t riding in the middle of the idler pulley. I made sure the parts matched up visually and by #. Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it? Photo shows new belt and pulley and the old pulley that has wear marks from where the belt rode. 1BA9A93B-A573-4D34-A428-1266D6087F05.jpgC8B29A04-8091-4E44-9A4D-AF66D7CB9FF2.jpg

just unloosen the tensioner and center the belt in place

I actually just figured out the issue I think. Thought I had the right part but I turns out the new one has a different offset in the back. Happy Friday haha

I dont see how that would affect the alignment of the belt as the tensioner itself is the same width. Thats just me though

Yes it is OEM. Called the dealership and got the correct part number. The backside of the bearing is what bottoms out on the mounting bracket. Since the replacement pulley has more space from the backside of the bearing to the pulley surface it’s causing the misalignment. Hard to describe with words, but relieving the tension and re-aligning the belt doesn’t fix the issue. It’s more of an issue with the offset and geometry.

I have the new and hopefully part on order and will update if it fixes problem
