"Bench Seat Gone Bad"

Hello Fellow Tacoma Junkies,

I hope everybody is doing well. I want to replace the 60/40 bench seat in my 1999 Tacoma with bucket seats. Do you have any recommendations on which bucket seats are the most comfortable? I am 56, and I am now a good 48 months pregnant so I am looking for something very comfortable.

You can use 1st gen Tacoma seats or 3rd Gen 4Runner seats. With the 3rd gen 4R seats you’ll have to bend the front mounting holes to line up, and then either buy an offset adapter (someone on TW sells them in the BST thread) or drill new holes for one of the back mounting holes. Any other seat would require the rails from a 1st gen Tacoma to be welded on anyway.

I suggest getting a center console from a later model Tacoma (eBay or junk yard) as they have better cup holders.

 

chiming in real quick would you happen to have a link to the offset adapters? I’m not ready sure what the BST thread is (noob). I’m trying to put some electric 3rd gen 4runner seats into my 97. Hoping the wiring for that is fairly easy to figure out too.

That is correct, I sold the last set recently and have not made plans to make more. If there is enough interest I might.

 

No worries at all! Since you posted the measurements I think I should be able to make some myself. Just knowing it’s possible and has been done is good enough. Thanks yall.
