I'd buy a fully loaded hilux for ~$30k. A new taco cost that much.
    No import fees?

Couldn't you buy the Hilux overseas and then container ship it here? Shipping is around $2,000-$3,000 I think. I am looking into doing something similar with my Tacoma over to Europe for around that cost.

Long answer short, no you can't unless it's 25 years old. Google it.

If under 25 years old it just has to meet DOT and emission inspections. Can't vouch for Mexico, but have seen plenty of Hilux in Europe which these guys ship to and from:
    https://www.wcshipping.com/?hsLang=en
The US is difficult to ship to, but still possible it appears. I mainly looked in to shipping out (looking into going out of LA) but the references link does show for shipping to the US.

It's not the shipping. It's emissions and import restrictions. If it were easy/possible, you'd see them in the US... but you don't. Again, it's a lengthy Google search.

    This^^^^^^

However, if 'someone' were to drive a hilux up from Mexico (just tell the authorities your traveling on vacation) and 'someone' would just happen to park it in my garage. I can sit on it fir several years.
    Just saying.

Anyone got a line on some local part-time automotive/shop kinda work? I have a rotating shiftwork schedule but I end up with 4-day weekends and wouldn't mind picking up some extra-curricular $$.

What are some fun drives around the area? Is the road to 3 fingered Jack open? I’ll be back out there in just a couple weeks.

The road to Three Finger Jack is open. No snow all the way to Jack lake parking lot. There is snow if you hike up.
