Hey guys. I'm looking to do some exploring in the GX this weekend around the Ochocos. Supposed to snow, but I'm not scared. Any tips or locations? Gonna use the map attached but not sure how accurate it is...

Ohh hate to be a debbie downer.
But its most likely to deep.
You may be able to get up the 42 some.
But usually by December you cant get over the top of any places even on 35s with lockers.
If you go make sure your equipped for extreme self recovery and no cell service.

Thanks. I plan on being more cautious than usual as I will be alone. I work in Prineville and have full view of the Ochocos daily. They look fairly bare currently, but that could change overnight. Just hoping to get out a bit. If it's too deep, I'll just turn around and play at the lower elevations.

The 12 road side is quite a but higher then west of the pass and seems to hold the cold more.
The 26 side of 12 is pretty steep so if its icy I wouldn't even try.
The loggers may have part of it open. But its usually waist deep on top by xmas.
Maybe turn before the pass and head towards lookout, Walton lake, big summit.
Idk if there grooming trial yet. So dont jump on any of that around Walton.
But the East side of Ocho is quite bit higher and can be really rugged in the snow.

Long shot, but does anyone have a set of FJ Steelies laying around? Might also be interested in other 17' wheels.

Nice. I already have a set of 285/75/17 LT Wildpeaks, just don't really think the wheels I have suite my truck.

    With that said, I have a set of 17x8.5 (4 In BS +0) Method Roost's I'm willing to sell/trade.

Thanks for the tips. Ended up going up 42 and did a bunch of exploring. There was snow, but not a ton. Saw one car at Lookout Mountain trailhead, but not a soul after that. Made it all the way to Deep Creek CG before hitting up some of the side roads. Good times were had. Only picture I got is when we stopped at Blue Ridge Mine for some sight seeing...

Looking to get rid of my custom camper build with wedge style sleeping platform. Frame is out of steel tubbing with an OSB canvas skin. It’s 90% done, never finished the actual tent canvas for it. Do have a temp we used over the summer. Does have character as this was my first build. Make offer please. As I don’t intent to make what I spent on material to build.

I know this might be a long shot but I’m visiting in Bend right now until Thursday and I noticed my skid plate is missing (the shop forgot to put it back on before I left yesterday) and wanted to know if I can find a shop that would sell me the OR skid, TRD Pro Skid or any aftermarket one so I can do some exploring. I don’t like driving in deep snow with no skid... I appreciate everyone’s help in advance!

It’s gonna be tuff finding one in stock. Bend isn’t really big enough for companies to stock stuff like that

Thanks y’all! I really appreciate the help. I’ll give the lkq auto wreckers a call. If I can’t find one I’ll just be extra careful in the snow ;-)

Where are ya planning on wheeling? I think most places open aren’t gonna have a ton and the spots that do may be a little sketch for solo play. Stay safe!

Not sure honestly. Today we just bombed around the high desert areas and went to a couple shops. Tomorrow we might be going to Mt. Bachelor and maybe again on New Years for the Snow Blast tubing, that looks wicked fun. I seriously appreciate the help. You have a really awesome town with a ton of things to do!
