    Bueller.......Bueller.........
    No hits?

I've been wondering, I've seen several listings for wrecked 3rd gen with good motors/ trans and go-go parts (mostly severe body damage and bent frames). Has anyone thought about putting 3rd gen drive parts in a 1st gen? Motor, transmission, ecu, etc.

You got it backwards. If anything, I'd put the 1st gen shit in a turd gen.

IDK if I could actually live without my manual transfer case shifter.
That said, the overall displacement of the 3.5 and 6sp automatic (I've turned in to an automatic guy, hard to drink coffee and shift gears at the same time) , I think, is something to consider if one is looking for a new engine in their much loved 1st gen. The 1st gen is a lighter truck so many of those 3rd gen power issues would be void. Plus. I have 4.88 gears. Id think my power would increase and mpg would go up a bit (compared to my current transmission).
All that thinking hurts my brain. I'm not currently looking for a new engine.... just thinking ahead for options when needed.

Edit: I'm reading where many 3rd gen owners are switching from stock 3.90(?) to 5.29 gears (or 4.88 depending on your needs) and getting a more responsive truck and (slightly) better mpg's.

Most people complain about the shift points in the auto trannys mated to the 3.5l. The 3.5 makes it's power in the higher rpm's and the tranny isn't optimized for it. Most people use aftermarket devices for shift tuning etc. If I were going to put something in the 1st gen, it'd be the 4.0l from the 2nd gens.

Agreed, that would be my 1st choice, too. I love that engine in my 4runner. I was just noticing several wrecked 3rd greens that have been wrecked. Hopefully they aren't wrecking "on purpose"because they're so upset.
Re: shift points- I've heard the same hence the regear many have talked about. Also, changing the shift points in the ecu is an option.

Looking to sell/swap these wheels and tires. Not positive of brand (traded for them) but they are a 16x8, I’m fairly sure +0 4.5BS. Tires are Wildpeaks, LT285/75/16. Open to trades or sale, since I don’t know the brand of wheels not positive what to list them for. HMU if you’re interested and we’ll chat

Dang I’d be interested in buying the tires. I’ve got 315/75/16 right now but they are a little too big and aren’t that great for all the highway driving

Removed my rear bumper assembly yesterday. Off a 2017 white TRD OR. BSM still in the wings, has cutouts for Sonar. Some broken clips, white caps in good shape (passenger side has a couple nicks that will likely buff out. Don’t want to separate honestly. $100 picked up fair?

Got awning mounted on the trailer. Painting the metal later this evening with bed liner.
Now to figure out where to put the water tank and spare tire.
