Tire selection. There are more C load rated tires available for 17” wheels.

    Crap!

Now I don't know what to call that thing I steer with.

    Is it a "steering rim"?
    Or,
    Is it a "steering tire"?
Where is the rubber part again?

    I'm so lost! :annoyed:

It's almost as funny as fixing the atmosphere for the flat earthers. Got to get them to say atmosflat instead.

Consider how many of them type out “y’all”.

I think that there is a geographical line in the dirt that defines when a person switches from saying "you all" to "y'all". Then you push the line further and it changes to "y'alls".

When you get that far, our beloved wheel/tire combo turns into: "Dem roundy thingers thar are doing a fine job of keep'n y'alls gurrs outta da durt."

I guess I'm old school... I learned way back when that a tire mounted on a rim was a wheel.

Gotta luv how words get redefined over time.

I learned that a tire monts on a wheel and I've never really had a word for the whole combo, just "wheel and tire" but I can still understand what you're saying.
We all still understood what everyone else was saying, everybody getting all huffy puffy about it yeesh

I would vote for the 17" because you can fit larger brakes under them. Dimensionally you can keep the same size tire and take the loss of sidewall height, or just run a larger tire to make up for it.
    Yes there are weight differences.
Yes there may be clearance issues.
Maybe you don't like the look of 17's.
However speaking solely to the merits if the wheel/rim diameter I think for the brakes alone the 17" pulls out ahead.

Why stop at 17" for bigger brakes, just imagine the boss stopping power you could get if you stuffed the largest brake rotor you could behind a 20"!!!

Well the thread was asking about 16" wheels vs 17".
I suspect that you could get some beefy brakes behind a 20" though, if it works for your application.
