I got a good deal on a TRD exhaust for my '12 DCSB on Amazon. It was listed as "Used, Good condition", or something along those lines. I received it and opened it to realize that the hoop that goes over the axle was slightly bent/kinked (See photo).

I really don't want to go through the hassle of filing a claim and having to package and ship this thing back to Amazon. What's the consensus? Can this be "fixed in the garage" so-to-speak? I have all the normal tools that most people have.

I was thinking of just mounting it everywhere up front, forward of the axle, and trying to pull it into position and see if i could bend it back the inch or so it needs to go. Or maybe bend it in the "Y" of a tree or something redneck like that. I've never tried bending stainless on an existing bend before.

    What should I do?

Unkink it or cut it off there and dump it.

I would have a muffler shop replace that section, should be pretty cheap especially if the exhaust is off the truck for them

    Some stuff...
Any reputable muffler shop should be able to fix that, either heat it and bend it back if the bend isn't too extreme, or replace that section. Good luck!

$25 will pay for my gas into town to take it to UPS.

But seriously, if i take it to a muffler shop and have it chopped and fixed etc., will they have to reweld with stainless wire/rod? I'm toying with the idea of having it chopped, straightened and then get the chopped section powder coated black and rewelded on.

Finding a reputable muffler shop around me is the problem. Most just want to slap some mild steel, non mandrel bent crap back on.
