Looks like the only thing that got in that box was some dust.

I wouldn't lawyer up immediately, once you do that they'll pretty much stop talking to you. Lawyers aren't cheap either...

None yet, just a bed cover. But will be doing the whole thing for overlanding.
Yes, but I’m going to another dealer if they say they need to pull it apart to make a warranty call on it. I just don’t trust them after trying to go after my insurance without knowing what they were talking about and blaming me for it.

Wow, they seriously are saying that’s your culprit? Sounds like a bunch of :bucket:
I would begin raising hell, politely. I don’t see how you could possibly lose here if you begin pushing hard enough. With that sad, after a win I’m not sure if I would 100% trust the hands of the people working on the truck.

Could you describe the vibration in more detail please. Have a vibration (diagnosed similarly by Toyota) that I have chalked up to normal and this is my nightmare... I know that this topic has been discussed to death just want a more elaborate vibration description, if possible. Thanks

Agreed. Definitely need someone else to do it since your current place has already concluded that mud==hydrolock

The vibration wasn’t dramatic but enough that any mechanic who got in the truck could feel it but without having the directions from any codes they couldn’t investigate beyond balance and alignment. When the check engine light came on they noticed it was also idling rough. I know it’s vague but it has been so difficult to pin down where it was coming from.

Yeah, I’m giving him the last chance. I own my own business which is why I’m not naming the dealership or anything at this point and hoping someone there does the right thing. I just needed some ammunition and was sure I would get it from this group.

Odds are that this dealership is part of a much larger dealership group/corporation. Find out what group and go above the specific dealer manager. Just remember what the cost of taking care of you is to there bottom line is pennies compared to there reputation especially to Toyota corporate. CSI-customer service index is the metric that is used by the MFG's to measure the dealers commitment to a brands reputation. One of my rules of thumb is "if you are having a hard time getting someone to do something make it harder for them not to" Everybody has choices they may not like there choices but helping them choose that the choice that is most beneficial to them is to take care of you as though nothing else matters more. Also the actual dollar cost to them is probably 25% of what they want to charge you.

Thanks. I was in sales in another Toyota dealership and that is how I know many of the sales managers here. I was in shock that the guys in service would try to pull this. I know that the CSI and survey is beyond huge to this place which is why I wanted to give the GM a chance to clean up the mess before going that next step that I really hate to go.

the honest answer is, I never checked and didn’t pay attention to whether they topped it off or by how much when I had it serviced.
