Hey guys, so I got some unfortunate news. I'm not sure how it happened, but my cab on one side is lower then it is on the opposite side and I found that my frame is bent/tweaked in one section so my bed is off quite a bit too. Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to get it fixed? Also, does anyone know a good reputable place that is (cheaper) but still has great service?

You're truck is an example of the Toyota Frame Rust Warranty. It was a 15 year warranty that Toyota would inspect & buy back trucks that failed.

    But unfortunately, that warranty expired.

You might want to call your local Toyota Dealer and MAYBE they'll still honor the warranty even though it's expired.

The cost to repair might not be worth it VS buying another truck.

    Good luck!

    Pyro,

I would not take anything for granted and find a body shop with a frame rack that has a GREAT REPUTATION...It might be more expensive up front BUT knowing what is needed to repair your truck at the start of spending $$$ is better than throwing $$$ after something that could become a money-pit..

Being in CALI. I am not sure his Taco is even eligible for Frame enhancements ;)....from Toyota...

First of all, judging by the pic or 2 in his build that have the frame in them, this is false and you have no basis for this assumption. His frame has very little rust on it.

Second, the warranty has not expired if he did a frame inspection in the past. His truck would be good until 2016ish.

Third, (for another poster) the warranty is 15 years from the in-service date. Your dealer can tell you when the truck went into service.

    First off:
The frame rust warranty / issue is based on INTERNAL rust damage. This is not something you can see with photos from the outside of the frame. The Toyota dealers 'inspect' the frame by using certain techniques to detect INTERNAL rust.
    http://www.showstop.org/images/truck/rust_warranty/vehicle-inspection.pdf
    http://www.showstop.org/images/truck/rust_warranty/warranty-policy.pdf

Secondly: According to this thread - the 'campaign' expired in 2011
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...help-frame-recall-still-going-did-expire.html
I've been trying to look for any links to prove this.

And hence, WHY I MENTIONED contacting his local dealership and perhaps they will still honor it.

I had a truck bought back already. I know about the frame rust. If you don't have any rust on the outside of the frame, there is no practical way you have enough rust on the inside to eat almost .095" of steel and bend the frame. You can argue all you want but you have no basis for your conclusion on his frame.

The initial inspection campaign may have ended December 2012 (your info on 2011 is wrong wrong wrong), but if you did the required inspections by the end of the campaign you are grandfathered in until 15 years of the in-service date. This is a fact and cannot be argued. Hence the reason people on this forum are still getting trucks bought back and frames replaced. Please stop providing false information and freaking all these owners out.

both my trucks were black on the outside with plenty of paint when they failed. being from cali it probably actually bent. Get it straightened and then box the frame.

That's false too. Every state will honor the warranty as long as your vin number is on the list. Only a handful of states could get undercoating. I had a truck bought back in Iowa and it isn't a state that does undercoating, but they still honor the deal.

Ok ok. . Lots of info on here. The rear frame almost looks like I was in a car accident. Also the cab is sinking on one side. If I'm eligible for Toyota to buy hack my truck... Then how much would they give me? What do I say to Toyota? I really love my truck but i would hate it to become a money pit... It's bad cause I was even having bad dreams last night about my truck falling apart while driving! Lol.

I don't ever recall taking my truck to Toyota for the frame inspection in the last few years. I did however get it serviced a few years ago so I'm not sure if my truck applies!?

No problem Zack. How I know all this is my truck was the first truck the dealer had seen with holes when the letter came out. They tried saying it wasn't caused by rust, it was other damage. Well many calls to corporate and meeting with a couple reps later, in early 2010 the truck was bought back. I had to do the research for the dealer and finally they understood the situation.

    OP:
Did you buy it used? Maybe it was in a wreck?

I agree about only applying to certain VINs, but I bet that the only VINs on that list are from the 20 or so "salt states" according to Toyota Corp.

    OP, go here -> http://www.toyota.com/owners/web/pages/resources/recalls

enter your VIN and find out whats up..

How long ago? How many miles now? Do you have a clean carfax for it? (Even though they don't always show wrecks or previous damage)

I was rear ended, but that happened on the opposite side of where the frame is bent. Now I have 150k miles. Bought it in 2006
