    ben, has anyone mounted the switch between the two map lights before? is there something behind it that prevents that location? my kit should get here this weekend so i'm trying to plan it out in order to bother you as little as possible during the install :)

    Nobody has installed one of my switches there (to my knowledge, at least), but TacomaDad installed a similar window rocker switch for Engineerlt's linear actuator mod.

    The switch is very similar in dimension to mine, so mine would probably fit too. I would definitely suggest doing some reconnaissance up there to see how deep the space is between the lights, though. The one drawback is that it would be kind of a pain to route the wiring up there, I would think. :notsure:

    yea it would be tougher but i can't imagine it's that much more of a pain than runnin it over under the AC controls which is my current thought. I want it to be easy for the passenger to operate. I'll do some recon and take some pics of what i find. Might also PM TacomaDad to see what his experience was. That location just seems like the most natural place for the switch to be put... then again i do still one day dream of a sunroof in the truck :cool:

    Running the wires to the OH console is no more difficult, IMO, then running them to the AC panel area, just need more wire.

    Take the OS handle off, run the wire from the driver's side kick panel up to the OS handle area, lift the headliner up a bit by the windshield and push the wires to the console.

    Personally, I didn't do it that way since I did not want to make a hole in the console. My switch is in the switch blank area under the HVAC panel.

    I forget -- did you use one of the Firgelli automations rocker switches like in the above pic? Or did you use the type of switch that I provide? I can't recall. I'm guessing you used a Firgelli switch, since you originally had the LA mod. I ask because somebody who posted above was wondering if one of my switches will fit in the switch blanks under the HVAC panel, and I didn't have a good answer.

    I purchased one of Ben's kits and am waiting till spring to install it. I was considering many options for switch location and the one I'm leaning toward is on the front side of the center console between the front seats. With your arm on the arm rest, reach over the edge and toggle the switch in the direction you want the window to travel. I do have a console safe installed so I'm not sure there is enough room for the switch body between the the safe and the console, but the wires sure would be easy to run to that point. Welcome insight from others.

    I thought about that too. If you have the safe, you probably don't have room for the switch that comes with the kit.

    You may consider and easy to run wires to it, its the cup holder, close to the console. I thought about it, but didn't want to get any moisture near the switch and risk shorting the system out.

    Dude, I would get it. I love mine. Finally was able to smoke my cigars in my truck while wheeling down trails because I could open the back window and let the air flow through.
    Definitely worth it :)
