Thanks again Ben. Man, after seeing the pic posted of the unpainted pull-pull bracket I am embarrassed by my "cutting board" method! Looks REALLY good!
    Thanks again Ben.

Don't be. You were using your own ideas and there is nothing wrong with that.

Went out yesterday to gather some parts.

Gear shift cables from a local bike shop. Got 4 in case I make a mistake the first time. With my current set up this cable seems to be holding up pretty well. Have'nt ran into any problems yet.

Found this brackets at HD. Not perfect but I'll modify it for the anchors. Only bad thing is that it has pre-drilled holes in certain spots.

I tried to look locally for ABS plastic but I couldn't find any. Not sure if HD or Lowes would carry such product. Pretty much the only part that I need to complete this. Will be working on it this week.

    Hi Everybody,

I just thought I would share my solution to the anchor bracket issue. I just got some adjustable cable stops that are used on rear bike derailleurs and I used one on each side of the cab (this requires having longer cable lengths but bike cables are plenty long enough). The added benefit of using these is that you can adjust the cable lengths if you don't get them exactly right.

^^ so pretty much you had to cut the cables at an exact length to get the tension on the spring to be perfect. my current set up is like yours, home made anchors are in those slot on the channel. only bad thing is that the tension on the spring is not 100%. so I'm going to update my set up like BenWas.

Adio, I thought that Ben said the bike cable was too stiff? Does it seem to be working out?
I am going to use some of those bicycle cable adjusters too(similar to the one in the pic), but plan to bunt them differently. That way if you do get any slack in the line you can adjust it by turning the screw without having to un-install anything.

keninsb- went with it because it's the best cable that I can get locally. I'm not sure if there's any difference between the brake cable and the gear shift cable. It's just a tad thin then what the regulator came with for the Ridgeline. It ain't stif, easily wounds on the motor.

Cable is holding up strong with the current set up that I have. I open and close it every time whenever I drive the truck. But I am going to update it to where it's similar to BenWas set up.

That's actually a pretty good idea, since you don't need to screw down anything on the window trim.

Where'd you get that part from?

keninsb- damn man, now you got me thinking I should go the same route as you are. A lot more simple than fabbing my own cable anchors. Plus with the current set up that I have, I like the fact that I don't have anything screwed on the window trim.

The ones in my pick are adjustable while connected too, there is just a plastic cover hiding the adjusting nut. I would guess there is a little over 3/8 of an inch of in line adjustability.

Typically, bike derailleur cables are thinner and less stiff and brake cables are stiffer and a little larger in diameter. I went with brake cables because they are closer to the size of the original cable. I don't open and close the window that much, only when the pup is in the bed (topper is always on), so I'm not too worried about it eating through the plastic spool.

I'd love to have BenWA's bracket... much nicer than the one I made...

The other thing I spent hours worrying about is what kind of switch to use. I didn't want to cut a hole in my dash but I only had blanks available under the climate control. I finally found a heavy duty mini rocker switch that can handle 13 Amp (which I called and confirmed it could handle 13 Amp DC power). I took that switch and I cut a slot out of the blank for it to mount in (as I have seen others do on TW). It took awhile to whittle down the plastic but I think it turned out okay. For those interested, it was a Sigma switch and the part number was S2-67.

Adio, what about a small piece of square aluminum? That would probably work, right?
    Ken

BTW I was going back through the thread today and your switch info is awesome. Thanks again!

keninsb- you talking about the anchors, that I'm not sure of.

But the idea of using cable adjuster gives me another choice that I should also go that route. I just don't want to make things anymore difficult if there's another easier way of doing it. Want to keep this thing simple as possible.
