You can always pop off the latch. Be careful when removing it. I did it this way cause you can always go back to stock.

Thanks for the quick reply. By "pop off" I assume you mean separate the adhesive between the latch and sliding glass to remove the entire latch from the sliding portion. This would leave the latch receiver on the driver side and to go back to stock you would just need to glue the latch back on?

I jammed the latch with small fuse, I used double sided tape to hold the fuse in place. It was sticking out a bit so I can see it in the rear view mirror when I need to open the window.

I just cut out the center of the catch. Eventually, I will clean it up a bit (did a quick cut) and make it look good. But, for now it works.

--- (I have not read all 70+ pages worth of posts)---- This is no more than a MOD, so that being said anyone with the ability to create these "kits" and sell them should be able to seeing as how the originator does not have that ability or want to do so?!?! Not trying to steal BenWa's "intellectual property", however i have had this idea for years and never seen it done until chancing upon a youtube video.
If there is mass interest in a "Power Window Kit" among the taco owners across this site, why then can we not put together a kit and sell it?
----This is solely a question expecting adult like response.-----

What I have been working on is a product that I brainstormed, designed, created, and have lined up for manufacture with a great deal of time and hard work. I'm in support of other folks coming up with their own design and concept of way to power a sliding window, and even sell kits/products/mods of their design and concept if they wish. But to take directly from my design/concept or any part thereof and attempt to duplicate it even with minor variations, and then go on to seek profit from it would be blatant theft of intellectual property, and certainly wouldn't be appreciated. I'm still working on trying to make my product available to all. If you have a completely new concept, like scratch does, then I'm all for it. But please don't freeload off of my ideas and hard work. That wouldn't be nice.

Hey folks, I just came across a stash of 5 more of the pull-pull brackets that I made. I will sell them for $20 each if you want one to try to put together your own window mod. PM if interested.

I completely understand that thought BenWa and honestly...I have not even looked at your kit yet. I understand the concept of a motor that actuates the window and powers it back and forth. The rest is all just random pieces that must be placed together to accomplish the movement forward and backward smoothly and continuously. anyway, my goal here is not to steal any ideas just recreate one for us all.

I figure you know this but then maybe you be smart enough to make but not to protect. Then???????????

If you don't protect your self and your product then who could you blame but your self. Get what I am saying? You need to have your ideals patent otherwise if someone took your product and put it on the market then you be SOL. So if someone does take your product and market, I don't figure you have the funds to battle them in court for years to get back what you think is yours. I figure you wont have a leg to stand on if someone does and you not be the first to come up with this and the concept is all the same. I could take your product and make one change to it and you still be SOL. I figure you would have a problem getting it patented in the first place because this has been on the market for years on other trucks with the same concept. Your words in red in the first post you made say you abandoned project. What I do think is if you are the first to come up with this for the Tacoma then it is yours only if you panted it.

    So protect your self.

woah now fellas, no one needs to go throwin words around. It was an idea to produce a kit for a "mod" that has been out for awhile. so lets just leave it at that! MurphMan, you cannot "steal" someones idea... the theory of a sliding automatic rear window has been about since the 1st gen tacos so that train of thought means all who have made the mod have stolen the idea from somewhere. Stay tuned, ill make a thread in the "For sale, 2nd Gen" area.
