    Hi
Would you mind posting a pic of the track straight down view? Including the cable penetration?
Are we supposed to take out the window stops that are in the track to allow for the new bracket?
    Thx

I just ran the cable tube through holes I drilled. This is the passenger side then drivers side. I didn't remove any stops

I hope your glue holds up. These power window motors put out some significant force, and are only stopped at the end of travel by their stall-force (they pull until they can't pull any harder). When your glass hits the end of its travel and the motor wants to pull harder, the only way for it to pull in more cable will be to shorten your cable run itself - which will attempt to break your glue bond. This is why people have included stop blocks in their installs.

I can't say that your glue won't work - but it looks like a weak link to me. Good news is that it should be safe to try, you can add blocks later if your glue bond breaks.

Thanks for the advice. It's marine grade epoxy so maybe it'll hold. I'm planning on not having an auto open feature so I'll try my best to control it. What kind of blocks have you guys used though? Just pieces of wood, metal, or plastic in the track to stop it?

    Thx for the pics.
I'm not seeing what hides the bracket, or what keeps the bracket in place and not fall away from the window... Does trim do that?
It seems that the bracket will hit the window stop if stop is left in place..
    Thx

I think the trim does that but I don't have my bracket yet. It's still being made. But I wouldn't pull too much info from my design because it's not a working design yet

I'm looking to go fully concealed like what @Acka did with his install. Right now I just have parts ordered but not much in yet. For all of you guys who extended the cables did you go with bike brake cables, bike clutch cables or custom cable? I did read where one guy used some 3/64" 7x7 cable on his and said it was nice and flexible like the original cable that came with the motor.

Anyhow just looking for some input from you guys who have had this installed for a while now. I know BenWa said not to use too stiff of a cable since it would ruin the plastic inside the motor.

    Thanks!

I remember seeing the 7x7 cable post when I was doing this mod and looking into buying it. I'm sure it would be great, but I wasn't interested in testing the pull-out strength of the crimp that would be needed on the end (to fit into the power window motor reel). I selected bicycle brake lines because they already come with a crimp on one end.

The brake line I got came in 8' lengths, so plenty to work with, and it takes two lines to re-string the motor. Here is a picture of my motor's reel, restrung with brake line. (you can kind of see where the crimp at the end of each line fits into a locking feature of the reel to capture it. If you build your own cables you will need to add this crimp and you'll want to make sure it fits the feature in your reel).

My brake line is slightly smaller diameter than the cable that came on the motor. So far it has worked great.

I thought the cable was shielded. Is the aircraft cable shielded?

Do you think these will function well as stop blocks? Just a nylon ring and brass stop collar. 20160216_091345.jpg

Hard to say from that picture - but to clarify:
If the motor were going to break your glue bond, it would be to push the cable sleeve into the track area (to the right in your picture), not to pull it out of the hole you pushed it through (left in your picture). If that brass collar can go on the cable sleeve just outside the track it would be perfect. As you have it I can't really say.

Okay that's perfect thanks. I've been holding off on ordering the brake line but a few people have said they used it with no apparent troubles yet so I went ahead and ordered some last night. I ordered the exact same motor that you referenced so hopefully it will all go together well.

So I went to the junkyard in search of the Sienna switch wiring harness and found a switch along the way. I already have one so first come, first served for whoever wants this. Just pay shipping. I had to leave to get to work so didn't get a harness for this switch but pretty much any 90's model Toyota radio uses the same harness so they're easy to find.
