Nice build thread. I have been looking through a lot of your other write ups since I found your power rear window thread. I got it on my to do list after I copy your sub box. I like finding DIY threads, they always have the best information.

Nice build. Glad to see its still going strong with 120k+. I have a long ways to go. I've got only 46k on my 05 and it appears to me with more miles on it it runs better.

I was wondering if you had to remove the front mud flaps because of the wheel spacers? I love the look of the stance on your truck and would like to duplicate that. Not sure I want to give up the mud flaps up front however. Like the looks of them for some reason...

did you install the strobe kit? I have a federal signal kit sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. I'm just curious if you drilled into the head and tail lights for your install or if you fabbed up something else.

I took the front mudflaps off before I did the new tire/spacers/lift, because one of the flaps was cracked and was hanging on by a thread. Not sure if the front mud flaps would interfere with the wheel/tire setup or not. I used to like the look of them too, but then after I took em off for a while I decided that I like the truck without them better.

For the strobes that I originally had, I bored holes for the bulbs in the fog lights and the tail lights. There was *barely* enough room to get them to fit. But the power supply for those stobes crapped out, and I have since replaced them with cheapo LED strobes hidden in my lower valance grille and in the back I mounted them to the gap between the top of the rear bumper and the bottom of my tailgate. The LED strobes are pretty weak in daylight (they are plenty bright at dusk/night), but they are good enough for me to supplement the magnet mount rotator on the roof. Here's an ultra short 2 second vid clip:

Thanks for the reply I'm going to drill into the tails and find another solution for the front maybe some cheap plastic fogs to drill into. My problem is that the strobe tubes require a 1" hole.

What do you have the led strobes for? And where did you get them?

Also, I have the same tires as you, about the same size too, running a 3" lift. How do you like them? I just got mine on about a month ago.

I can speak for BenWA but we get a ton of fog here and sometimes traffic is at a dead stop strobes get peoples attention way faster than brake lights. Plus when/if you're pulling some one out of a ditch it's nice to let traffic know something is going on. I always stop for bikers on the side of the road to see if they need water or some help; I've been stranded before and it's nice to have someone stop and help out.

Ohh okay. Well I'm from northern WA so I know about the fog haha. I have been looking at getting strobes for work, plus it sounds like thats a good idea for the fog.

Where did you guys get yours?

I do a lot of highway work, so the strobes are to keep me from getting mowed down when I'm on the shoulder of the road. I got my Wheelen rotator beacon online somewhere (I think there might be a link near the beginning of this thread), and I got the hideaway LED strobes on ebay for like $15. The LED's are pretty weak, but they were definitely affordable. :p

I love my Duratracs. I have been looking for an excuse to upsize to 285's though.

Interesting. I have been looking at getting some strobes for responding to calls. I live on a lake and respond to calls here, so its always pretty foggy. And I love my duratracs so far. I need to go have them balanced right though because I have a shake in my steering wheel.
