Yeah, I was thinking about that... but I figure it would probably be around $200 in labor for me to do all the work (including time to shop for parts), then another $150 or so in parts/shipping...so realistically the product would end up being around $350-400 uninstalled. At that point, one might as well just go with a CR Lawrence. I think the beauty of this version is that it can be done as a DIY for cheap. It really is not difficult to DIY. I say if you have the mechanical capability do a BHLM, or swap out a pair of front struts, or hook up a stereo amplifier, you can easily do this.

Maybe I should make a how-to video that goes step by step through the process...

Ahh, more work then I read into it. I have the linear actuator on mine, just though that if the motor could be done for about the same cost..... But, oh well.

Oh I see what you are saying, you meant just modify the regulator/motor assembly and resell them... (I orig thought you meant to sell the whole kit n kaboodle including the window bracket, switch, wiring, hardware, etc).

What you are saying could probably be done easily/cheaply enough. I'll have to think about that.

Exactly, kind of a go-between for complete kit and DIY. I would have seriously considered the motor vs. the actuator if it was within a reasonable price difference, since it looks like the install effort would be about the same between the two. You just end up with a quieter/smoother motor vs. the noisy actuator.

Just a though, isn't something I'm going to steal from you :D

Okay, so I took Lurkin's suggestion and did some thinking, and a little research on parts availability, etc.

Wondering how many people would be interested in buying a fast-build kit that includes the re-sized window regulator/motor assembly (such that it will fit the Tacoma), plastic motor mounting plate, and also the window mounting bracket that I fabbed. I'm thinking price for the kit would be around $150-175, not including the switch, wiring, add-a-circuit/fuse.

Basically you would be getting this:
    DSCF0974_25e303257e4d0e58a62f7d7780b90907140f4af3.jpg

    And this:

    DSCF0989_138df90c538f20f1644733bf0d377e8054a3fdb1.jpg

So as an official feeler, who would be interested in spending that much on a fast-build kit? The more interest I can get the cheaper the kit would be, because I could fabricate them in runs, assembly line style. All those who are interested say I.

I like it, just don't really have the money and if I did, too many other things I want to do first.

mSo my question is, i have the stock storage compartments behind the seat and want to keep them, does this fit behind the storage compartment? The motor that is.

Unfortunately, the motor won't fit behind the storage compartment as far as I know. The indented part of the plastic storage tray mounts flush with the corrugated metal of the cab's back wall, and that's right where the window motor mounts to. The bin would have to be cut out so that the plastic would fit over the motor. That's the one main drawback of this mod, as far as I'm concerned. :(

You should post a new thread. I bet it would get some interest.

Well I'm gonna put together a fast-build kit and see how long it takes me to fabricate/assemble everything now that I've done it once and have all the wrinkles ironed out.

I will put the kit up for sale when I'm done -- one lucky TW'er will get it. If it goes smoothly, I will produce more as demand warrants.

If I didn't already have the actuator setup and running, I would be on your list.

You also might try and put a feeler into the BST or Groupbuy forums to gauge interest.

I'd be interested - if it would fit an Access Cab. From what I can tell it probably won't.

I was actually wondering about that.

Could somebody post a pic of the back wall of an AC so I can see what it looks like?

Not sure how much you need to see, but this to me looked problematic. It looks to me like you'd have to cut the back of the plastic part. Not insurmountable I'd guess.
