Beretta4x4 Harley Build and BS thread

September of 2016 I bought a brand new Street Bob from Pike's Peak Harley Davidson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I did this two week's after my 33rd birthday and 3 weeks after posting the MSF Basic Rider's Course.

When I first purchased it, this is how it looked (actually 1 year later, different seat and handlebars rotated forward, but basically the same):


My goals were, of course, to leave it stock. I wanted to keep the factory warranty without any questions. That did not happen.

The first thing I did as get a little fork bag from Cycle Gear to hold my insurance, registration, a few tools, you're repair kit, clear and dark lense inserts my eye protection and so on. Cost me $30-ish.

With that setup, i rode it for nearly 10k miles the first year, realising that the seat that came factory didn't have the support needed for my messed up back. After about 6-7 months of researching and testing, i settled on the Saddleman Step-up seat. The truck was finding a deal on it as it's a $500 seat. I found this closeout on Amazon for $400 and decided to jump on it. (Picture taken after several thousand miles/today)
I used that seat from about 5k miles to about 9k when I decided to try out using a fairing. Several long trips had wore out my upper body holding against the wind and I was curious. I purchased a Chinese knockoff of the Harley Quarter Fairing, to see if it would make a good enough difference.

I also realized I needed more power cause reasons and installed an Arlen Ness Stage 1 Big Sucker Air Cleaner, Python Slip-on Mufflers and the Harley Factory Stage 1 ECU Download. I had it dynoed (just for numbers) during summer so I'd get, hopefully, the quest numbers possible. It was dynoed at Killeen Motorsports in Killeen, Texas for about $65. The power numbers were 72 Horsepower @ 5200 RPM and 88 lb./ft. of torque @ 3050 RPM. Not too shabby for a Harley 103 cubic inch (1650-ish c.f.) engine with air cleaner, slip-ons and reflash.

This is how it looked then and how it looked till today, when I began installation of a Burly Brand Tall Sissy Bar.
