This is reckless thinking for someone in law enforcement.

That sucks. My city of 120,000 has 1 shooting maybe every 4 years. Most crime is simple assaults or property crime. Criminals interrupted always run unless its a planned home invasion for an assault or a drug rip.

We have extra dumb criminals. They routinely break into the wrong home...or they don't just burgle...they kick in doors and start shooting.

That is a crime. Not a threat. A threat will kill you when you haven't loaded a weapon because you want to scare someone by loading the chamber.

Huge difference. You are off base.

I notice the AR in your 'Murican flag signature pic. I get that you probably have a different opinion than me on this. That's fine but I wouldn't want an LEO to think he has to shoot before assessing something. This has turned into a cluster fuck thread jack. You guys can shoot whoever you want. Fly at it. Less people get shot in Canada. I guess we're just reckless.

    Whole different ballgame up there

and FWIW I'm still going to assess the situation, but from cover and without giving up my tactical advantage.

Couldn't agree more. All I said to start this was that the sound of a racking shotgun will sometimes stop a threat. Never said it should be the first step in your response. You get it. I get it. Some people are upset that I'm being reckless. I'm 11 yrs + LEO and don't do things to compromise my safety or lose the advantage in a situation. Chambered gun > unchambered gun.

Won't stop a threat. Might stop a crime. A threat is imminent danger to life. A crime is a 14 year old stealing your TV.

    Bad advice in any country.

In your paintball experience or LEO experience? Sound of a shotgun can stop an immediate threat. It's not an action I would choose but sometimes it will. Didn't give any advice. I can't compete with TW lifers who have thousands of posts and want to beat a dead horse. You missed my point and think I'm anti-gun or something like that.

OP didn't say if its for home defence. If it is you may want to stick with the shorter barrels (18 inches is good)

I don't own any paintball equipment. I also don't give a hobo's crap how many posts you have. What I care about is misinformation being spread as fact on a topic as critical as home defense by someone claiming to be an expert. I don't believe a 12ga shotgun is the best option for home defense for numerous reasons I won't get into here but not the least of which is they're not capable of half of the shit you hear people claim they are on internet forums... one of which is a bad guy scaring device by simply racking the slide. You're welcome to use a stick of butter to defend your home (sounds like you do, eh?) but don't convince others to do the same. It's not sound advice no matter how you slice it.

.... yeah. I recommended a Remington 870 as far as shotguns go. Don't know what "advice" I gave that has you so worked up.

If you're going to tell me I'm an idiot then at least read the posts instead of missing half of what I say or putting words in my mouth. Quote what I said that's wrong or piss off.

I picked up a Remington 1187 Premier Semi from a Pawn Shop for $260 + Tax a few years ago. Owner said he couldn't get it to cycle shells.

Took it home and remove a small burr that was catching the brass from the feeder tube. Been slayin birds ever since.

Gotta love getting a $600-$700 for half price. Thing looked brand new.

Moral of the story...go browse the pawn shops.
