Is there a 2nd Gen Taco shop manual that does not confuse all work with 1st and 3 Gen info?
I find it a pain when using a Haynes to sort out the info that does not apply. Sometimes the only info provided is not for the year/model I need. Is there a better shop book for the 2nd Gen ONLY? Planning on a brake job.

youtube vids came up when I typed in "Tacoma 5 lug brakes ". I'm in for a good link or PDF download though. Fronts are real easy. I'm not sure about the drums in the rear though. The drums are probably pretty similar to the

I have the same question as OP. I purchased a Haynes on eBay for $30 and it is OK. There is not enough detail to do the level work I'd like to. I see some multi-volume sets for $250 which I would purchase if I knew they were complete. Any thoughts on good shap manuals for Gen II?

Off topic, but the drums are not similar to the fronts. If you dig into that, take lots of pictures before you take anything apart. There's a dozen* springs and they go in a certain order. One goes over another, and wont work if it's under....but it will GO under, it just wont work that way so you wont know until it's back together.

*Ok, probably not a dozen, but more than you can just remember which way they go.

I have the Haynes manual. I’ve noticed that when it doesn't differentiate between different models, the provided info applies to all models. Looking at the brake section, Haynes has two sections for the two different front brake systems in our trucks - one for fixed calipers (4WD and Prerunners) and one for floating calipers (2WD). There is one section for the rear brakes because all models use the same system.
You gotta be careful with DIY’ers on utube. They don't always do it right and many don't list torque settings. There are some good mechanics I have come to trust - South Main Auto, The Car Care Nut, Viktor G Automotive, Rachets and Wrenches, Chris Fix, Eric the Car Guy, Roman Automotive, even Scotty Kilmer. Others like Kflo Tacoma are DIY’ers with relevant videos to our Tacos but they dont always take the best approach and may present wrong info, but they are good to watch to see what you may face and to see what tools you may need.

This is the real deal but I don't think it is the paperback book version. You can search for your specific model year. I thought about this last year but read some reviews about the seller that these were photocopied versions of the original manual. They are expensive but less than the cost of one retail labor repair. Good luck.
