    06-08 because
    1. few things got fixed from 05
    2. Less electronics so truck is cheaper to maintain and does not require dealer intervention for every little thing
    3. With less electronic gizmos truck is fully upgradable (manual TC, solid axle, bigger rear axle, bigger engine another transmission etc)
    4. Quality wise those where the best years. NUMMI workers find out in 2009 that factory is closing so they had no incentive to make effort. 2011+ are now in new factory and quality will be ??? for some time.
    5. Option of limited slipp probably the best design out there

    Did this and love it.

I use the Ipod for my music and the usb plug to charge my phone...Works perfectly. I do wish I would have gotten the audio system steering wheel controls option. My ladies camry has it and it has grown on me.

No it won't. Pick any car that is electronic nightmare and check its used car value. You can buy cars that were original sold for almost $50K 10 years later cheaper then Tacoma.
I give you example. There is (or rather was) 1gen 2001 reg cab with 160k miles on it for $7200 all basic (no power anything) great condition. Next to it was park 2001 Audi A6 fully loaded (leather navigation all nine yards) with 90 k Miles on it for $7000 Guess which one was sold the same day. I was too late for 1gen
Audi is still there. I have no problem with Audi drivetrains but their insane number of electronics is simply impossible to fix so I won't even look at one which is over 5 years. Others think the same. For the same reason I would not buy used 2009+ with low quality out of the factory plus all the electronics packed that will be costly car to repair when it hits 10 years. Hence why 1gens are pricey and 05-08 will be too.

    07.

Bugs got worked out in 05 and 06, and starting in 08 ATRAC came along. ATRAC = more electric stuff.

Although the latter addition of side air bags would be nice. And the rear back up camera, I hate ''reverse and pray.''
