Looking for a lift for my third gen but don't really want to go with spacers. Kind of on a budget at the moment, but plan on spending more late 2018. Let me know what you guys like. Looking for 3-4 inches

$1000 should get you 5100s all around, OME springs for the front lift and a 3 leaf AAL for the rear to level it out.

Actually just saw you want up to 4". If you have a 4x4, it isn't advisable to go over 3" unless you want a lot of issues (or drop a lot more $$$$ on a drop bracket lift). Even at 3" you will probably want to get aftermarket UCAs which would put you over a grand.

You're not going to get a good lift at that height for under $1k, shoot for 2-3 inches under $1k and we'll talk.

He could be a 2wd OR in which case he can put maxtrac 4 inch spindle lift on it and then use the 3aal for the rear.
    Btw. Welcome to TW!

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
I just got a set of front and rear 5100’s and a AAL set from Headstrong, and installed them today. Total lift was about 1.6” for about $450 (discounted for local pickup). Tested them out just a bit tonight and they all ride very nicely. I wanted the add a leaf for extra weight capacity in the rear for towing. Extremely happy with my upgrade!

None. Why waste money now when you can buy something better in a few months like you were saying? Spacers are garbage. Unless you don't care about the ride quality and want to bro it out, then by all means get them. If you want any function though, it's not worth it. to get 4" of lift you'd have to do 3" suspension lift (highly unlikely for $1k) and 1" body lift, or shoot for a 6" lift. 6" lift will put your off road capabilities back to stock, if not worse.

Spend once, lift once and be done with it.

If the op is satisfied with the capability of his stock truck, then a spacer lift for looks and bigger tires is fine. 1.5-2" will be fine. Everyone bashes spacer lifts, but if you're not even close to maxing out the capability of your stock Tacoma (most aren't) then a simple spacer will achieve what you want. Don't give the bs excuse about increased drive line angles, what do you think longer coils do?

Every lift has its place, just because one doesn't fit your needs, don't wright it off as garbage for someone else.

He's looking for 3-4 inches, not 1-2. Can't recommend a spacer lift for that height but the OP can do whatever he wants.

I'm new to this too, so 2" spacers won't affect the ride quality?

If the spacer goes on top of the coil assembly, noit won't affect ride quality. If you get the style that goes between top hat and coil (pre loading the coil) then yes that style will stiffen the ride

If only us north of the border could get those prices. I went with 5100's and they cost enough
