Any ideas? After reading through the forums, I have learned that k&n filters are a waste of money, and standard oem spark plugs are the way to go. Any other ideas to increase hp while conserving gas mileage? Muffler maybe? I'm stuck...thanks in advance guys.

Supercharger is the only way to get real power out these engines. I would suggest exhaust and headers but they only give you like 5-10 hp.

Never heard "cut in half" before but a shortened life is inevitable.

If it makes you feel better there was just a thread talking about how the SC isn't that great either, and joking about how they'd sell a lot less if they had an SC'd demo truck you could drive before you order the 'charger.

I personally would wait until I bought a new Tacoma to boost. If I'm going to spend a lot of money, I want it to be on something I will keep forever. This truck will be with me probably for about 10 years. There really isn't a bad time to do it though.

As for your experience, I am not saying you will have trouble down the road nor do I wish that upon you, but isn't it too soon to collect data? How recent was the install? I'd wait a few more years.

I know it was a joke, BUT... For the sake of debate. When buying a new truck, MOST people are looking at a monthly payment. So if the charger was say, 5K added to OTD price... That's like what, 1-2 hundred extra/month? They might just go for it.

The blower needs to come with a smaller pulley to be as fun as 1 thinks..,.... Then again the stock fuel pump cannot keep up with the 3" pulley

Only issue with the supercharger is maybe needing to do head gaskets after 90-100k miles after installation, but that's fair in my book. YMMV.

Beyond that I'd be looking at an engine swap. $$$$

Where do you see evidence of that? I see people on the 2.85" pulley with no fuel issues.

Its been shown on xru how it drops off on high demand... It cannot keep up.

I have the 2.85 and would never run a stock pump.

Just do some digging around...its well known and documented. Iirc on xru it showed the stocker and how it drops off when u need it the most.

I could feel the difference after the swap.... The truck kept pulling harder and harder and not plateau as quick.

Even 100K is not comparable to the potential life of a Tacoma (Hundreds of thousands of miles). Is blowing a head gasket repairable or too expensive to repair properly?

What about all of the other mods you can do with the charger? I have seen Tacomas hit 0-60 in 6 or 7 seconds. Good enough for me.

As for the pulley being too large or the fuel pump failing- if I spend 5k on a charger, I'm gonna spend the next few thousand on other top notch parts to make sure it performs at potential.

Oh good, because I have heard that aluminum heads with blown gaskets needed to be resurfaced or something like that.

Whether you have added weight or not-the charger is the charger, and it will always perform better than your stock engine would have without it. Good luck on the future mods.

    Na 0-60 WAS 6.6

NOW, according to torque app, 5.8 with wheels spinning till 60+

So with 4wd and or a track with track tires, I'm sure these bitches can run like the wind

You need to decide where and how much (power and $$$), as there are upgrades but depends on where in the rpm band you want gains and how much money you want to throw at it. XRU is probably a better place to explore this then here. Too many nay sayers here. Boost always is an option, SC or turbo, NA can work, but NA gains are mostly high end gains, not down low.
