In a 1st gen, if you don't have the elocker, then you have the 8.4 rear diff and axle.

The trucks with the elocker have the 8.0 rear diff and axle.
These two diffs are not interchangeable in your axle assembly. To get a Toyota elocker like the TRD trucks, you'll have to swap out the entire rear axle assembly, from hub to hub.

I see you guys have moved on from the question about which diff is in your truck but I am curious, is your truck a 4 cylinder and an auto trans? I see you list it as a double cab.

It is easy enough to determine the 8.0 or 8.4 question. The housing are not the same so it is easy to tell the difference. One method is which side the drain plug is on. If it is pointing towards the driver side, it is an 8.0. If it is pointing to the passenger side, it is an 8.4.

I chose to go with an ARB in the front diff but I was regearing and it was foolish to open up the front diff and not add a locker. Also, I would never do an auto-locker in the front so that didn't leave much choice.

For your rear diff it is a different story. A selectable locker like the ARB is very nice to have and it is very strong. But it is very expensive. Of the three choices, going ARB or e-locker are going to be the most expensive.

What is your budget? Are you regearing too?
