i have to say man i'm not a fan boy of any one manufacture. the shear number of glocks in the world is over whelming to say the least.

think about it this way glock was the first manufacture to offer battle tupperware to the public they imho set the standard hk makes a some of the nicest battle tupperware made and fn is and probably always will be the largest supplier to the worlds military organizations.

any of the three listed that fits your hand better and just feels right to you. you absolutely cannot go wrong with.

and now i make the picture time:laugh:

I have an XD 40 tactical (5 inch) and love it. But I still think the Glock is a better choice to the average user.

    THIS!

thats what i have done. got a glock 23 .40 and bought a 9mm conversion barrel for $110 at cheaper than dirt. although you gotta buy G17 or G19 mags to go with it and thats will cost you too

    2 guns in one!

i think i paid $525 or so for the gun with night sights and 2 mags

but damn for a badass gun that i love, that i can carry, and that have 33 round mags available for it! lol

i personally think that hk makes the best polymer frame hand gun...

but the da/sa of the more traditional hk and fn cannot compae to the glocks consistent awesome clean breaking trigger i just happen to be one of those people who really like them alot.

and if you ever want to customize your glock they turn out VERY NICE!!! check into glockworx.com ima gonna send my g30 to them to be pimped in a non gay way lol.

if its for your wife have your considered a walther ppk i think i got mine for like 380$. its not a true 9mm but its close enough. i think the walther pps comes in 9mm though and is similar in size and handle.

another vote for 92fs also...my favorite gun to shoot by far.

Find a range that rents weapons, or borrow some from your friends. Invest in cheap target reloads and let her:

    1. Handle the different weapons..........she will tell you which are comfortable and "feel good".

    2. Take the "feel good" weapons and let her fire several mags through each one........ask her which one she likes

    3. Shoot some more of the one she likes......just to be sure.

Guns are like a good pair of underwear......they gotta feel good!!!!

IMHO.......Beretta 92FS or a Baby Eagle made by IMI the same people who make the Desert Eagle, I have both of them. I love them both, they both are double stack so the grips are fat. Neither is a EDC gun because of the size. The advantage of the Baby Eagle is it has a 17 round magazine and it has the polygonal barrel, which cleans faster. If you are ever in CT and want to shoot either look me up. I am not a glock guy my EDC is a Colt Defender. Nothing against Glocks I just never warmed up to them.

She is the only lady that can shoot trap or skeet like me. She was her dads tom boy learned to shoot a 410 at age 10 and was on a 20ga. at 13. She is the best lady shot I know hands down. Real good with a 38 also. All the lady's at work have 9MM so my guess is she wants to come into the new times. She hates my 357 & 44 mag cuz they are to heavy and kick like a mule (So she says). Thanks to all for your time....Jim

I'm thinking they offer a polymer frame...as for actions, they have variants.

they also offer slimmer grips for smaller hands.

go to an indoor range and rent all of the 9mm semi auto pistols they have one at a time and see how you like the feel of each brand. then try that brand you chose and try different calibers, you might rather have a .40, who knows. IMO

    i recommend the glock

As an NRA basic pistol instructor, I tell people it doesn't matter what they get as long as it's a quality brand and they like the feel of the gun.

I would highly recommend you take the 30 seconds it takes to at least have the wife hold the S&W M&P Compact. I highly recommend it for women who want to CCW in a purse or on their person. If no CCW, then the fullsize will have the same grip and be a littler easier to shoot accurately.

Other quality brands have already been mentioned:
    Springfield XD or XDM
    Glock 19 or 26
Sig Sauer in any of the many 9mm flavors (don't know if anyone mentioned that)
I didn't see a CZ-75 or 85 mentioned, but they have great ergonomics and are popular. More law enforcement/military agencies worldwide are armed with the CZ than the Glock actually.

I also rock the m&p it's a great gun .40, super easy to handle and smaller than my buddies glock 17 which is his EDC.

m&p 40 compact with the extra finger at the bottom of all the clips. very comfy very little recoil easy on target for follow up shots. i keep planning on putting a surefire on the light rail but havent yet which should also lower the recoil even more. What trigger problem? i havent had any problems with that gun at all.
