No sense in swinging at the ball, when it's past the plate.

Everyone is responsible for their own orgasm.

Take 'er easy... and if she's easy.... take 'er twice.

    (kidding about the last one..)

    My grandfather always said:

Save a dime out of every dollar, and in the end, you won't have to scream and holler."

I wish a lot of other folks would do that as well, this country wouldn't be as hosed as it is.

I have been advised many things, but these stand out:

    • That I am CEO, and need to act like it. I handle my business like it were a business; if it does not make money, I do not trifle with it.
    • "Live beneath one's means"...I save 33%
    • "Debt is slavery"...I took out the car note at 4,5% because I (correctly) predicted commodities would outperform, otherwise I would have purchased the truck with cash.
    • To stay with my own kind and keep to one's self...I do that very well, much to the delight of others I am sure.
    • To either treat people very well or to destroy them.

Finally, my Russian friend told me about the difference between 'prava' and 'istina'. Defining the terms, pravda is the orthodox truth which is impolite to contradict. Istina is reality as determined from often-cynical observation and analysis, notwithstanding pravda. He told me to speak istina, but turn my head both ways before doing so. I do not live my life in fear of others, therefore I do not turn my head and speak very bluntly.

I coach football and a parent once told me you have more to do in a young mans life than a teacher and sometime parents even. I said what do you mean by that? He said name your favorite teachers I named one he than said name your coaches I could name them all. So that was like a light bulb moment or a ah ha moment. So everytime I coach and teach a kid I always remember that..=-)

Though I never met the man, one of the wisest things I've ever heard came from legendary OSU football coach Woody Hayes. One of his most famous statements was:

"Anything easy aint' worth a damn"

Not life advice but a funny story about learning the basics:

A week ago one of my chick friends gave me a phone call saying that her windshield washer fluid wasn't shooting out. Knowing she wasn't of the highest IQ bracket I told her to look under the hood to see if there was any fluid left. After instructing her to open the hood and look (explaining over the phone how to open the hood was an adventure in itself) she told me all her washer fluid was frozen solid. I asked if she was using the winter washer fluid (we live in the -20C to - 40C temp range) and she had no idea such a thing even existed. THEN says to me this chunk of gold "They should teach you that shit in drivers ed or something, how was I supposed to know I needed special winter fluid in my car."

I remember in high school when we first moved to California from Illinois-I was lonely, no friends yet, feeling so alien-not to mention culture shock. The basketball coach who also coached weight training class, took me under his wing, and had me attend weight training after school. That I thought was so cool of him-and I felt like I belonged somewhere. Had fun, made a few friends and got strong too! Thinking back, I know he saw what was going on and felt bad-he was a good man for pointing me in a direction like that. I am 50 and never forgot that:)

Priorities...Some people just don't make it a priority to learn new things outside of their normal day to day activities. Some people just don't care to learn either and take it for granted.

My ex girlfriend for example. She grew up with her dad working on their cars himself, he changed her oil, washer fluid, tire pressure, etc, etc. Then she met me and eventually moved out of her parents house and in with me. For the 4 years we were together, I did all of her car maintenance, told her when she needed tires, what tires to buy, I changed the oil, washed the car, etc. I always tried to teach her but she didn't want to learn and said "That's what I have you and my dad for". She decided to move to Colorado to go to school and she quickly found out how expensive and attention vehicles require to maintain them and wished she had payed attention to what her dad and I told her.

    From my Dad:

If you think that the sun rises and sets on YOUR ass, you're wrong, it doesn't

As you go through life, you'll learn that not everyone is going to like you- get used to it

From an old Lieutenant of mine when I first made Police Sergeant:
