    Hey all,

Looking for some input on what the best replacement head unit is for my truck (2015 Tacoma). I would like to keep a lot of the stock features like back up cam, steering wheel controls, etc....

    Thanks,

    T

They make adapters for any head unit to keep steering wheel controls. One thing I am not familiar with is 2015 back up camera. My 11 was different since it was in review mirror. I had to buy an adapter to get it to show up on head unit.

That's good! Any specific head unit you recommend?

It's unfortunate cause the stock system sounds ok for a stock system (I DO NOT have the JBL system) and the head unit is ok , but like everyone complains about, it's to fricken quiet!

I'm a big fan of the Pioneer Double Dins. Check out crutchfield.com. You can filter select all the features you want, and it will bundle all the necessary adapters so you can keep all your OEM features (backup cam, steering controls, ect.)

I have the Alpine ICS-X7 HD and I love it. The screen is big and the interface is very nicely layed out. I had to get an adapter for the steering wheel controls but I'm not sure about the OEM backup camera. I was able to put an aftermarket backup camera since mine is a 2006 and it works great.

I have a Pioneer Avic 5000 with nav and back-up camera. Added an amp and subwoofer after the install. Upgraded all speakers as well. Blows away the stock system. Went through Crutchfield as previously mentioned and would highly recommend them. Their tech support was outstanding.

I figured it would fit, but was just wondering about compatibility issues with stock features of the tacoma. Apparently you can get any module you need to make things compatible it sounds like. I have little experience with real fancy head units....

I have a Pioneer 3500. I like it ok. I probably would have went with a Kenwood if I had it to do over. Seem to like the interface a little bit better.

Everyone has their own preference, but I always look at Alpine and Kenwood first.

Had an Alpine in my last Taco and went with a double din Kenwood in this one. This was my first Kenwood and I really like them now. Had some buddies that work for Polk recommend it.

I just put in a Pioneer AVIC 5100. So far it seems pretty nice, it has Bluetooth, DVD (not that I will ever use it), backup cam output, and Nav. along with all the other standard features/apps that the newer decks come with these days. I replaced my factory speakers years ago, and while both made a big difference in sound quality, the speaker replacement was more dramatic. And I didn't go high end with the speakers either. It's just that factory speakers were so cheap by comparison. I don't know if they are any better on the later models, but the '05's were pretty cheap.

Do you have a link for the camera adapter? I have the one to make the steering wheel controls work but if I could get the camera in the head unit that would be awesome.
