Hello, I have a 2006 Tacoma 4x4 access cab. I am trying to replace my headlights and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with aftermarket lights. I tried a low cost light and the beam pattern is awful! I’m glad they offer free returns! I have looked at the reviews on several different brands and find it hard to pinpoint a good brand! I’m also looking at CAPA certified headlight but still find bad reviews even on those. May have to break down and get OEM but thought I would try here first.
    Thanks

If you’re just looking for stock replacement TYC are the best of the aftermarket options but admittedly they do feel slightly cheaper than my OEMs.

I can’t speak to the quality of the optics though because I used them for a retrofit.

I bought the TYC CAPA headlights for my 06 from Rock Auto in late 2016. I think CAPA just means they charge $10 more each. They are starting to get the slight haze on the very top of the lens. Still look new from 10 feet away. My truck is outside 24/7. That is just less than the time frame as the original's lasted before getting the haze. If I had someone else's money I would have gone OEM. I paid about $130 for both.

On the CAPA certified was the beam pattern close to OEM? That’s by biggest fear right now. I just hate to think of sending another pair back. Thanks

I swapped the bulbs in them with the original as I had SilverStar's. I didn't notice any difference in beam pattern.

Buy an aftermarket offroad bumper while you're at it. You will barely notice the price for the headlights after that.

My girlfriend's 2006 has awful, yellowed lenses. They don't appear to be cracked. I'm going to try to bring them back and then I'll apply the recommended Maguiar's headlight coating to preserve the polishing. Yes, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...grade-h4-not-led-or-hid.398066/#post-11031383 is a great article. Unfortunately, the OSRAM 64206ALL P43t Allseason Off Road Headlamp Bulb 12V 85/80W is no longer available, including in Europe. I live in snow and fire country so we could certainly appreciate the value of an all-weather headlamp and these sounded perfect. Anyone know of a close equivalent that may be available? Or it's OEM replacements for $156/side. Thanks for your help!

You should use TurtlewaxHeadlight Lens Restorer Kit! It’s super easy, works fast!!! There’s a review on YouTube which reviews the major brands. I think you will like how easy it is and no power tools necessary.

Thanks! I have heard that's a good kit. Nice thing is, I have a shop at my work and, if I get lazy, I do have power tools available :). Hopefully it can tackle these really bad lenses.
