Just like the title says, I'm looking for a very versatile duty boot, one that wears nice, water proof, breathable, but the most important thing is the ease of running in it.

    What have been ya'lls experiences?

I wanted as much exposure as possible but my target audience is military and police and EMS, so thats why its here! If the mods have a better place for this, please feel free to move it!

(at least its not the second gen area) :D

I like the SWAT Classic 9" side zips. I wear them nearly every day, at work and hunting/hiking. Great boot. My first pair lasted for 2 years, tread was nearly gone so I got another pair. This second pair, the zipper tab has broken on both boots. They pooched the design of the zipper on this go around. The tab doesn't move freely in the zipper itself, so it binds and is nearly impossible to get back to normal sometimes. I yanked on em and they broke. No big deal, they've been replaced with paperclips.

Next pair of boots will be SWAT Classic 9" side zips :)
Or maybe I'll try the 5.11 ATAC Shields...

Edit. Our issue boots are Magnum Stealth Force 8's and they're absolute shit.

5.11 HRT Urban #1 for me. Extremely light and very comfortable.

Close second would be Blackhawk Warrior Wear.

They are the most comfortable boot I've worn for work but with the metatarsal guard it takes awhile before you can run in them and if your talking about doing PT in them, I don't think it would be much fun. Before these I had a 10" Matterhorn's they were awesome too and I use to run all the time in them over a mile...no problem.

    The Matterhorn's...

Seems like most people are favoring the 5:11 brand. I'll have to check into those. It's just getting slightly nice here and I wanna start running outside in boots with a pack on in uniform to simulate weigh of a vest and gear. Trying to get in shape for the academy and the job afterwards at higher altitudes.

If 5.11's boots are anything like their pants, then they're winners.

I love their pants. I may just have to try some ATACs next time around.

Bar none, the best lightweight boot I've owned are my Rocky S2Vs - they aren't steel toe/composite, but they do make a version of the S2Vs with a composite toe. I own 3 pair. CG paid for 2 of them, liked them so much I got my own pair.

Bates featherweights. Takes a week or two to be totally comfortable. Lightest boot I've ever worn.

I like the 5.11 side-zipper boots as well. The zippers on them have never failed (on my second pair and ready for a third). The teeth on the zippers are large so they don't get stuck.

I wear them all the time as my daily boot.
