That's what I forgot to mention in the original post! The original Bruce Springsteen version says "Cut loose like a deuce", and you can actually understand it; The Manfred Mann version sounds like "Wrapped up like a douche"...

And my truck's stereo really brings it out; The first time I heard it was after I put the Pioneer component system in, but likely before the subwoofer and external amp. I've got a Rockford Fosgate amp powering a JBL component speaker system, and a powered Kicker 8" sub, plus a Pioneer HU...

Now my stereo REALLY brings it out!

"It's the end of the world as we know it" by R.E.M.

There's one part where he says what sounds like "Automotive Escalade", but this song was recorded years before Cadillac made the Escalade; He's actually saying "something-something escalate"...

"Workin' for the Man" by Roy Orbison; I grew up on Roy Orbison thanks to my dad and one of my favorite pastimes is to drive around with the windows down on a pleasant day (not too hot, not too cold), blasting it in my Tacoma...

There's this one line that goes "The company, and the daughter you see, they're both gonna be all mine..."

I was first seriously introduced to Roy Orbison about a decade after he died, in the form of a greatest hits cassette in my dad's old Mazda pickup; I thought Roy was saying "The company, and the dollar you see, they're both gonna be all mine"...

And my favorite song EVER (since late 2012, anyway) is "Once Bitten Twice Shy" by Great White; I never misheard any lyrics and know all the words pretty much by heart...

However, there is one line towards the end the goes...

"I didn't know you had a rock 'n roll record,
Until I saw your picture on another guy's jacket,
You told me I was the only one,
    But look at you now,
    It's dark and your gone"

At first I thought they were referring to a leather jacket worn by a rockstar, but now I think they're referring to a cardboard jacket that an LP/record would be stored in...?

I've heard that a lot of people thought a certain song by The Clash was called "Rock the Cat Box"...

I was not one of them :D

Oh there will be some mods all right
I've got two of them. Radar love, thought they were saying red hot love, and dirty deeds, done dirt cheap, thought it was dunder chief.

My buddy dropped a “on a steel horse high rise” from Bon Jovi instead of “steel horse I ride” and I’ll never let him forget it.
