Oh yeah, I definitely do as much of my own wrenching as possible. In my 97 I’ve replaced the A/C evaporator core, radiator, thermostat, brakes, power steering pump, belts, rack and pinion, tie rods, among other things.

So another question. If I buy a truck that hasn’t had the recalled items done on them, can I take them to any toyota and have them look up the recalls and have them just go to town? I mean, I understand doing my own work, but I’m not about to replace the frame myself. Lead springs I could do, but if they’ll do it for free, I’ll have them do it at the same time they do the frame.

Thanks :). When I was in High School my dad didn’t let me drive out 91 Mazda Protege until I could show him that I knew how to change the tires, brakes, and oil by myself. Then he pulled out the starter fuse, spark plugs, and disconnected the battery. Then he handed me the keys and said, “If you can get it to start, you can drive it to school.” I wasn’t the biggest fan of him doing this when I was in H.S., but man I thank him every time something needs to be fixed now.
Saved my buddy $600 by taking 30 mins to swap out his started on his Altima last year :). Got free lunch out of it too!

Yes, recalls apply regardless of age, miles, our number of owners...

Warranty extensions or enhancements maybe not...but usually they are pretty good about it.

Awesome!! I only ask cuz the frame recall falls on the year of a couple of the trucks I’ve been looking at. Hopefully the work has already been done, but still

Just to double check, this would be for best in your opinion correct?
I found a solid 2010 that I'm keeping my eyes on for now. Just gotta get our tax returns back and sell my truck! :fingerscrossed: There's a couple more for backups as well.

I like the styling refresh that started in 2012. Headlights, tail lights, bumper, grill, and interior. (Though interior might have changed earlier, not positive)

The home link mirror is a must have for me, compass and temp is in the mirror and so is the back up cam.

What specs on it? I love my 2010. Best vehicle I’ve owned yet.

One of them is 2010 with 165,000 miles in oregon, so no rust. Dual cab with Rev tech lift, fuel 20x12 wheels, 33x12.50x20, after market exhaust, headlights, and grill, cold air intake, and last but not least, a tool box in the back. Trying to hold out for less that 165Kmiles. Having said that, I won't say no just because of this haha

I just like it. Fair enough, you can add one, but you can add almost anything to one of these trucks.

I would prefer to get the features that are important to me included as part of the factory package for the most part.

Well, I feel stupid now haha. I guess I won't get the chance to try out the 4 cyl because we need the double cab, and they didn't make any double cab 4 cylinder trucks. :notsure:
Now I've got my eye on a few trucks.
An '07 Taco with 168K miles and all the bells and whistles
and an '08 Taco with 86,000 miles with some bells and whistles.
Still trying to find something in the 09-12 range with ~150K miles and around $19,000. That's currently the upper limit for my wallet right now IF I can sell my truck for what I want

I almost bought that a couple weeks ago. Was going to travel but found an 11 in LA for around the same price with less miles

I blindly bought an '11, and after reading here, I'm pretty glad I did... almost bought a couple '05-06s but decided I wanted something with less time for the frame to rot here in salt-happy MD. And I probably would've bought a '12-15 if any would've been around in my price range... but I sell auto parts and have sold air pump valves enough times to breathe a big sigh of relief to not have that happy junk to worry about.

I watched a video about swapping the foam out with a UNI adapter. That didn't seem too painful. Is it just that you've gotta replace that UNI filter every year?
